We were lucky to catch up with Danyell Peavy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Danyell, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Honestly, I found purpose in being an actress in today’s society by stepping out on faith and my comfort zone, embracing the unique opportunity to contribute to the storytelling process, adding depth and realism to the narratives being told. This role allows me to be part of the creative industry, experiencing the excitement of production and the camaraderie of the set. It offers a chance to escape into different worlds and characters, providing a fulfilling way to express myself and be part of a larger artistic vision, even if in a subtle yet impactful manner.
Also, as an CPR Instructor, finding purpose in being a CPR instructor after my daughter passed away eight years ago likely stemmed from a desire to transform my grief into a meaningful impact on others’ lives. Teaching CPR allows me to equip people with lifesaving skills, creating a legacy of prevention and preparedness that honors my daughter’s memory. This role provides a sense of fulfillment and rewarding connection, as I help empower others to act in emergencies, potentially saving lives and sparing not only other families but their families from similar heartache.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the owner of Forever Life Saving CPR, teaching CPR is special to me because it helps to empower individuals with lifesaving skills that can make a critical difference in emergencies. The ability to potentially save lives and prevent tragedies adds profound meaning and purpose to my instruction. More of a passion and not a job, so it never feels like work!
Being an actress is exciting because I get to be part of diverse stories and experience the dynamic world of film production. Each role lets me contribute to the creative process and see stories come to life.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As an actress and a CPR instructor, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been adaptability, effective communication, and empathy. Adaptability allows me to thrive in diverse roles and unpredictable scenarios, whether on set or in emergency training. Effective communication is crucial for delivering clear instructions and connecting with audiences, ensuring both successful performances and lifesaving skills are conveyed accurately. Empathy fosters a genuine connection with others, enhancing my ability to understand characters deeply and to teach CPR with compassion and understanding, ultimately making a meaningful impact in both fields.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to actively seek opportunities to practice adaptability by embracing diverse experiences and challenges. Enhance your communication skills by engaging in public speaking, active listening, and clear, concise expression. Cultivate empathy by putting yourself in others’ shoes, seeking to understand their perspectives, and building meaningful connections. Continuous learning and reflection in these areas will significantly strengthen your ability to excel in any field.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Being their role model, my kids and fiancé’ have been instrumental in helping me overcome challenges and develop essential skills. My unwavering belief that “you can do whatever you put your mind to” constantly motivates me to stay adaptable and patient and to always trust the process through the good and bad. Guiding them through their growth journey has deepened my empathy and sharpened my ability to communicate effectively, which has proven invaluable in my roles as both an actress and a CPR instructor.
