Meet Sarah O’dell

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sarah O’dell . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Sarah , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

It can be difficult to say exactly where my work ethic came from. I was raised by a blue collar, conservative family, that instilled such values into my day to day life. My grandfather always emphasized the power of hard work and the purest of rewards that come with such devotion. My mother equally prided herself on such strength and wished to inspire such power into her children. It never seemed to matter the obstacle nor the goal, when it came to seeking advice from the elders who raised me, the response was simply, “if you want it, work for it.” I was encouraged to believe that all I ever desired was possible through the effort I put in. My family assured to teach me from toddlerhood that the only true obstacle I faced was myself. As long as I didn’t get in my own way, and assured I was giving the task 110%, I would reach success. And while I want to express such gratitude for the values I was surrounded by as a child, I cannot deny the fire within myself, the spark within my soul. As I have aged, I have come to find a deeper level to such values and drive. I have realized that despite the best parenting and role models a person could ask for, ultimately, you have to want it for yourself, more than anything else. You have to fuel your desire for fulfillment and happiness. The key to work ethic is the spark of passion, love and joy for the accomplishment you are desiring to attain. You have to discipline yourself to the optimism of the destination and find the silver lining in each and every step of the journey. The passion for success can only come from within. And when that is understood and achieved, you will find yourself working hard with every intention of everything you do, each and every moment. Constantly evolving into a better, more authentic and powerful version of yourself. To summarize, ultimately my work ethic comes from the love I have for myself to live a life of my dreams. A life of health, wealth and happiness. A life worth experiencing. A story worth telling.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am an eclectic of diverse creativity. An entrepreneur to some standard. I create unique, authentic, magick ritual candles that involve ancient and modern spiritual symbolism. Each and every candle curation is crafted just as uniquely as the soul who aligns with them. Each piece is filled with a personally divine message of healing to transform and initiate each being into their authentic self expression of self fulfillment in a world that does not care who they are nor how they belong. My message through my magickal art is to inspire the individual through meditative practice into a state of consciousness that opens their minds and hearts to a creative world. To a world in which they feel confident enough to show up unapologetically themselves, despite what society, trauma and self doubt conditions us to believe.

I write romantic poetry that brings back raw, unconditional love into the world. A love for the shadows, the darkness and exiled parts of our souls and psyches. I share my personal memoirs describing the imperfectly perfect, roller coaster journey of life, transformation of the soul and evolution of our world. I speak my convictions with passion in hopes to bring forth a world of balance, tolerance and justice. I die on the hill of my philosophies in desire to trigger the close minded into a new frame of thinking. I firmly stand as a light house in the void of chaos to expand on the what ifs, the conspiracies and the corruptions within the vileness of our realm. Whether I am correct or not, has never been my goal, but a goal in providing food for thought, empathy and healthy questioning to allow the individual the power and strength to discern their experiences and stand in their purest of truths.

I model as a portrait of the dark arts. Bringing the beauty of darkness to life. Inspiring those to not be fooled by trickster of light. To honor the ugliest parts of ourselves with love and alchemize the lead of our essence into the abundance of gold.

I have dabbled in the healthcare world as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Healing a variety of diagnoses to bring the client to their highest potential of independence, despite the hardship of their circumstances. All the while being an advocate in a healthcare system built on greed, lies and famine. I hope to guide the system into a state of wholeness, holistic balance with modern science/technology and true wellness for the benefit of all beings. I dream of destroying the corporate greed that condemns the population into a state of disease. A revolving door of illness and unrest.

As for other projects, they are soon to come! Awaiting the creative process and financial investment to allow myself to continue to expand and grow in due time.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities that have been most impactful would be self love, mental/emotional/physical alchemy and perseverance. It is important to love yourself enough to choose you forever and always. As I have gone down this path, I had to love myself and trust my intuition enough to be willing to lose those around me, who did not see the value in all that I was doing. Many have deemed me to be countless negative names and qualities, simply because they did not grasp the vision I had for myself. It can be easy to get lost in the self hatred of people pleasing. Or the dimming of your own light to save the love of a loved one. However, it is better to close out those chapters and allow space for those who value your dreams to come through. Life and the journey to your success become easier and much more pleasurable when you love yourself and accept that is the only love you truly need. The rest? Is an overflow of love that allows you to nurture others. But your cup shall never empty when you fulfill it all on your own. The second being alchemy. It is important to learn how to view all circumstances in a lens that is truthful, but equally beneficial for you. It is learning how to transmute negative feelings or circumstances into positive experiences. The easiest example is, when you’re sad, creating a sad art piece to express your emotions. Not only did you physically release such emotion from harboring into your body, you found a way to find the beauty in that negative feeling. Another example would be when dealing with failure. It is easy to belittle yourself into negative thinking that ultimately forces you to give up. Or you can understand the lessons learned and trust that if it was meant to work out for you, it would have. As they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When life gives you a problem, find a solution that catapults you even farther ahead than the set back left you. Now thirdly, perseverance. Which can equally be related to temperance or patience. It is easy to get discouraged by the timeline of success. None of which are the same length of races to run. Especially in a modern society, conditioned to desire instant gratification. Remember to enjoy every moment of the journey and continue forward. Again, it is not about the destination, but the journey. If we rush to the ending every time, we never enjoy nor grasp the impactful wisdom of the story. We are left in the shallow end. Never reaching the depths of all we can grow to become.

The best way to build these skills is through meditative awareness and practice. Be disinclined in your self evolution. Nourish yourself as you would a garden. Discover yourself and what works for you. Find your authentic way to accomplish your goal. Every plant, animal, child etc etc etc has a different variety and mixture of needs. Fall in love with discovering yourself, just as you get lost in the honeymoon phase of getting to know a lover. Find your flow. Stay true to yourself, trust your intuition and tell the world the fuck off if they are incapable of holding the space for such a force. Be like earth and force the realm to create space for you. Allow the water to humbly erode you into your most divine form. Allow the fire to transform your passions into stars. And allow the air to set you free.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal clients are those who are open minded. Those who wish to see a new, better and more loving world. Those who strive to find the balance of the elements and honor the spectrum of the polarity within. I wish to find those in need of inspiration to be themselves. Those who desire someone to see them for all they are, the good, the bad, the ugly and the divine. Clients who are not afraid of the taboo and the unknown. Clients who strive for self fulfillment and collective abundance. Clients who are not afraid to question me and the world around them. Those who understand and accept my leadership nature. I strive to connect to strong individuals, willing to see beyond their eyes and tap into the consciousness of all we create this world to be. Those who are not afraid of the warrior within and the strength it takes to make a stand for the rights of all beings to coexist and live freely, without deceit or corruption. Those yearning for the raw transparency of truth.
