Meet Michelle Bast

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michelle Bast. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Michelle, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

Overcoming imposter syndrome is a journey that many of us face, and I certainly have had my share of it. In fields like medicine or aviation, the path is often clear-cut, with extensive memorization and training by repetition. You know that after so many hours of study and practice, you’ll be equipped to perform your role. However, in a dynamic field like internet marketing, the landscape evolves so rapidly that it can sometimes feel like you’re constantly trying to catch up. The moment I master a set of skills, a new app will emerge and I’ll be back to square one.

What helped me overcome imposter syndrome was shifting my focus from what I didn’t know to what I could learn and understand. Internet marketing is not just about following a set of rules; it’s about using logic, creativity, and a deep understanding of the human mind. I realized that no one could possibly know everything in such a fast-paced industry, and that’s okay.

Instead of viewing this as a weakness, I embraced it as an opportunity. I focused on continuous learning, staying curious, and building a network of supportive peers who were also navigating this ever-changing field. I found that by connecting with others, sharing experiences, and supporting each other, we all grew stronger and more confident.

Additionally, I reminded myself of the unique insights and experiences I bring to the table. Everyone’s journey is different, and that’s what makes each of us valuable. By embracing my individuality and the unique perspectives I offer, I was able to move past the feeling of being an imposter and step into my role with confidence and authenticity.

Remember, it’s normal to feel unsure at times, but those feelings don’t define your worth or capability. Trust in your ability to learn, adapt, and contribute meaningfully. You’ve got this!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey, three qualities and skills stand out as the most impactful: adaptability, empathy, and continuous learning.

Adaptability: The world of internet marketing is ever-changing, and the ability to pivot and adjust strategies quickly has been crucial. For those early in their journey, I recommend staying open to change and embracing new challenges as opportunities for growth. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try new approaches.

Empathy: Understanding and connecting with people on a human level has been a cornerstone of my work at Pulley Media. Marketing is not just about promoting products or services; it’s about telling stories and building relationships. To develop empathy, take the time to listen to others, understand their perspectives, and genuinely care about their needs and experiences. This skill will not only make you a better marketer but also a better leader and collaborator.

Continuous Learning: The digital landscape is constantly evolving, and staying ahead requires a commitment to continuous learning. I’ve always been curious and eager to learn new things, whether it’s emerging marketing trends, new technologies, or deeper insights into human behavior. For those starting out, I advise dedicating time regularly to learning. This could be through reading industry blogs, taking online courses, attending workshops, or connecting with m

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

One area where we are particularly seeking collaboration is with excellent business photographers in the local area. At Pulley Media, we understand the power of high-quality visuals and engaging video content for social media. Since I cannot be everywhere at once, it’s incredibly helpful to have a network of reliable photographers who can step in for quick 1-hour assignments. These assignments often involve capturing content and short video snippets that align with our clients’ branding and marketing strategies.

If you are a skilled photographer with an eye for detail and a passion for creating compelling content, we would love to connect with you. Collaborating with us means being part of a dynamic and creative team that values innovation and quality.

To get in touch, you can reach out to us via our website’s contact form or connect with us on social media. Please include a brief introduction, your portfolio, and any relevant experience. We look forward to the possibility of working together and creating amazing content!
