Meet Letty Prado

We were lucky to catch up with Letty Prado recently and have shared our conversation below.

Letty, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

To me, creativity is the result of drawing inspiration from external sources. I find inspiration in various things, but reading is one of my favorite sources. It allows me to envision imagery in my mind, sparking ideas for my own creative work. Additionally, art often resonates with me on a personal level, and certain colors can inspire me to consider what kinds of products or artwork would complement them. However, my ultimate wellspring of creativity stems from drawing inspiration from my cultural background and childhood. These two elements have a profound influence on me and significantly impact my daily life. I believe that the richness and vibrancy of my culture serve as a constant wellspring of inspiration.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

As an artist, I find the most exciting part of my work to be creating new artwork and developing new products for my art. My company has been thriving for nearly a decade, yet each day feels fresh and full of new possibilities. From the inception of a new product to seeing it come to life and ending up on store shelves or someone’s wall, the entire process continues to be a source of great inspiration and fulfillment for me.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

In my journey, three qualities that have made a profound impact are imagination, perseverance, and color knowledge. I encourage you to embrace diverse ideas, cultures, and traditions. Regardless of where you are in your journey, challenges may arise, but remember that every setback is an opportunity in disguise. Maintain faith in yourself and your creations. When things don’t go as planned, step back, and return with a fresh perspective. Lastly, draw inspiration from your surroundings, especially nature, as it offers an abundance of colors that are beyond compare.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

Friends and family who openly share their opinions and feelings about new ideas and products are incredibly valuable to me. Their honesty and openness not only make our bond stronger but also provide me with the hard truths I need to hear. Additionally, they inspire me and help spark new ideas.
