Meet Janet Wang

We were lucky to catch up with Janet Wang recently and have shared our conversation below.

Janet, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?

I realized in my 30’s that you can’t be friends with everyone. You can’t get along with everyone. And no matter how genuine you are you’re not going to be everyone’s cup of tea.
So when I face negativity, I really just ignore it. If it’s something that is going to impact my life in some way, then I’ll speak to that person directly.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

First and foremost I am a mother of 7!!! I am also an action actress, movie producer, director, and show girl.

Although acting and being a showgirl is exciting and fun it’s hard on the body. And I’m no spring chicken. Lately I have been enjoying my job behind the scenes.

Currently I am producing a Fan film festival called Houston Fan Film Festival. This is a chance for people who love fan films and making fan films to be able to collectively enjoy this great genre of films. You can submit your films at this link: https://filmfreeway.com/HoustonFanFilmFestival

And follow us on Instagram @houstonfanfilmfest

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I believe the three most important skills/qualities that helped me through my journey are my work ethic, my attitude toward life and the things I am passionate about, and my ability to network.

I feel like these things helped me elevate my career.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

I went through a heart breaking break up, and dealing with the stress of sick parents in another country at the same time this past year.. All of this forced me to do some hard soul searching and emotional healing. I did some hard work on my self to face my past and work through my negative traits that stemmed from events in my past. It wasn’t easy, and I will always be working on myself, but I am in a better place having gone through this.
