Meet Kendrick Holmes

We were lucky to catch up with Kendrick Holmes recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendrick , so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?

I grew up in wentworth gardens housing projects on the south side of Chicago, my mom raised me and my four brothers with the help of our grandparents in a one bedroom apartment. When I was about 11 years old I realize we didn’t have some of the things our friends had the nice shoes , clothes even going days without food in grade school i actually got teased because of it , I remember going to the corner store with notes for grocery to the point I was tired of it so as the second oldest I started looking in the wrong direction getting myself into trouble you know? Taking from the rich to feed the poor. Nothing I’m proud of today but I felt it was something I had to do at that time for me and my siblings to have. We talking the good old 90’s. Where we had leaders who taught how to lead . I was taught real early how to do what ever you have to do so your family can have a meal on a table.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My name is Kendrick Holmes, I’m a actor from Chicago , IL previous guest star on tv show Chicago PD as ( LEON MADGES) on NBC & Peacock , also known as ( MONEY) in City Of Vultures 2,3. I’ve been only acting for 3 years and to be to where I’m at now has been incredible. I love being a role model all the things I’ve done the things I’ve been through god walk me through doors only he knew would open. I want people to know if you you just continue to live , love & prosper through Christ Allie possible.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Discipline , courage and creativity. I would say to them trust your art , trust you , not all doors going to open but there’s a window everybody want to walk in but don’t nobody want to take chances and climb I rather take the window. It’ll take me a minute to get in but I’ll be in .

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

To be better than I was yesterday that’s always been my thing . We not perfect I know I’m not perfect I wouldn’t even say I don’t go through different emotions life is a challenge it self but we have to keep pushing . When I love I love hard, when I’m for you I’m for you some just not built that way.
