We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Claudia Scheffler-Perrone a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Claudia, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
As the founder of Killer Press, a coaching and training company, my journey of finding purpose has been one of self-discovery, learning, and constant innovation. My path has been guided by the pursuit of my passions and a drive to empower people to reach their full potential.
My Passion as a Compass
From the very beginning, my passion has been at the center. I wanted to help people grow and develop. My studies in political science and my background in psychology had sensitized me to the needs of the individual. At the same time, my ongoing fascination with new media pushed me to find new ways to make my clients more visible.
From Instagram to Killer Press
I started out by exploring platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, aiming to discover how I could best support my clients in building and strengthening their social media presence. These initial forays eventually led to the creation of Killer Press – my coaching and training company that specializes in helping businesses and individuals enhance their visibility, growth and handle crisis.
Continuous Evolution
Over time, I’ve continued to refine and expand my purpose. I’ve consistently adapted my offerings to meet the evolving needs of my clients, and introduced new methods and technologies to more effectively support their goals. My purpose of empowering people and unlocking their potential has remained my guiding compass.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As the daughter of Italian parents, born and raised in Bremen, I’ve been united with both worlds from the very beginning. After studying political science in Italy and gaining experience in international companies and startups in the USA and Germany, I embarked on the path of entrepreneurship in 2007, founding my own company focused on communication and marketing. I was an early adopter of social media, successfully applying this knowledge for my clients and launching my own award-winning blog “nonsoloamore”. Over the years, I’ve deepened my expertise in coaching, becoming a sought-after speaker and launching my own expert podcast. Throughout my journey, I’ve been driven by a passion for empowering people through the power of communication, adapting to individual needs and conveying practical techniques that can make a significant difference in the lives of my clients.
I have always supported non-profit projects and mentored many women. Since 2020, I have been the official ambassador for the city of Hamburg for the women’s club “Red Club”. With my expertise and new impulses, I want to strengthen the club and the women in Hamburg.
As a communication specialist with over 20 years of international experience, I am passionate about empowering individuals and organizations to reach their full potential through the power of effective communication. My unique expertise and diverse background, combined with my love for social media and sports coaching, allow me to offer a holistic approach that makes a significant difference in the lives of my clients. Through specialized workshops in crisis communication, personal branding, and communication, I equip participants with practical techniques and strategies to navigate challenges with confidence, amplify their unique voice, and achieve their goals. At the core of my offerings is a deep belief in the transformative power of effective communication. As a communication catalyst, I am committed to continuous learning and growth, always seeking new ways to expand my knowledge and better serve my clients on this journey of empowerment and transformation.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As I reflect on my journey as a communication specialist, three key qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge stand out as being most impactful:
Adaptability and Empathy
My ability to adapt to individual needs and empathize with diverse perspectives has been crucial in my work as a coach and workshop facilitator. Being able to truly listen, understand, and tailor my approach to each client has allowed me to have a meaningful impact. I advise aspiring communication professionals to cultivate strong listening skills and an open, adaptable mindset.
Practical Experience and Continuous Learning
Throughout my career, I’ve always placed a high value on practical, real-world experience. Theoretical knowledge is important, but understanding how things play out in practice is invaluable. At the same time, I’ve never stopped learning, continuously expanding my skills through trainings, courses, and hands-on experience. My advice is to seek out opportunities to apply your knowledge in practical settings and always remain a student, eager to learn and grow.
Passion and Creativity
Perhaps most importantly, my deep passion for communication and my creative, analytical mindset have been driving forces in my success. I truly love what I do and put my heart into every interaction and project. This passion fuels my creativity in finding innovative solutions and connecting with clients on a meaningful level. I encourage others to pursue work that ignites their passion and to nurture their creative problem-solving abilities.
For those early in their communication journey, I would offer the following key pieces of advice:
Develop strong listening and adaptability skills to connect with diverse audiences
Seek out practical, hands-on experience to complement your theoretical knowledge
Commit to continuous learning and growth throughout your career
Identify and nurture your unique passions and creative strengths
Build a strong professional network and consider working with an experienced coach
Stay curious, open-minded and adaptable as the communication landscape evolves
Deeply understand your target audience and craft compelling key messages
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
First and foremost, I value authenticity and integrity above all else. I want to collaborate with people who truly mean what they say and are willing to put in the hard work required to bring their vision to life.
Another key quality I seek in potential collaborators is a deep, unwavering passion for continuous learning and evolution. The communication landscape is constantly shifting, and I believe that the most impactful work is done by those who approach their craft with a growth mindset, always seeking to expand their knowledge and skills.
Finally, I’m drawn to individuals and organizations that share my commitment to empowering others through effective communication. Whether it’s helping clients unlock their full potential, elevating marginalized voices, or driving positive social change, I want to work with people who are driven by a genuine desire to make a meaningful difference in the world.
If you’re reading this and feel a resonance with the qualities and values I’ve outlined, I’d love to hear from you. You can reach out to me directly through my website or social media channels, and let’s explore how we might be able to collaborate in ways that are truly transformative for both our audiences and the broader community.
