Meet Lia Mueller and Reagan Verdi n/a

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lia Mueller and Reagan Verdi N/a. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lia Mueller and Reagan Verdi below.

Lia Mueller and Reagan Verdi, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

My sister and I were inspired by a tragedy we suffered in 2022. Our mom passed away very unexpectedly. A few months later, this sparked an idea for Lia to make the transition into the health and wellness arena. She asked if I wanted to join her and it was an easy “yes” for me. We spent the next year and a half completing certification programs and developing our own health coaching business. That is where Living KayWell was born. Our mom had the entrepreneurial spirit and dreams to start a business with us. We wanted to be able to fulfill that dream for her. We have seen and experienced firsthand the gap in knowledge around women’s health. We knew we could help women take back their health and through that, we have found our purpose.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

We run a health coaching business for women called Living KayWell. Lia is a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) and I am a certified Health Coach. My sister and I offer what we call 2:1 coaching, because our clients get to work with both of us! We specialize in hormone imbalances and hormone related health issues. We are not doctors and cannot treat, diagnose, prevent, or cure any disease or condition, but we can develop individualized plans that help clients advance on their path to optimal health and wellness. Health coaching is a great way to bridge the gap between a client’s current reality and their future goals.

The most exciting thing about health coaching is helping women be better informed about their health! More often than not, as women we are expected to deal with whatever issues or symptoms we have, but in reality there’s so much we can do through lifestyle and nutrition to support our bodies. We take a root cause approach, which means we seek to find the root cause of challenges and work to fix that. A lot of what we are offered today are band-aid approaches that may fix a symptom temporarily, but they are not addressing the actual cause of a symptom to prevent it from happening again.

We recently started offering our Back to Balance program, which combines functional testing with nutrition and lifestyle recommendations tailored to our clients. This program is a great way to get information on where imbalances may be occurring at an individual level so we can focus on targeted areas for improvement.

We also recently launched a video podcast on YouTube and Spotify which has been really exciting! We discuss tips for hormone health as well as education on how hormones are impacting us every day.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three qualities that come to mind are motivation, patience, and willingness to learn.
Motivation seems obvious, but you do really need that drive to get started. The hardest part of the journey is usually starting, so once you get past that it is a lot easier to keep going.
Our advice here would be to be brave and start! It is going to be messy, it is going to be imperfect, but it is necessary to get better. A great technique that has helped us is to picture yourself with the business or goal you have in mind. Allow yourself to feel how you would want to feel if you accomplished this goal. Then, take the first step towards it!

Patience is another because starting a business from scratch is difficult, and you most likely won’t get the results you are looking for right at the start. Our advice here is just remember that no one got to where they are overnight. Give yourself grace and focus on the very next right step!

Willingness to learn is another one that may seem obvious but there is so much to learn when you are an entrepreneur, whether that be the logistics of setting up a business or educating yourself on the industry you work in. Our advice for this one is there is always more to learn, so being open to being a student in your own field will go a long way!

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

The biggest struggle we are currently facing is niching down. We have struggled to pinpoint exactly the client base we want to reach. To work through this, we did extensive research and joined a business coaching program which kicks off in about a month. This program will help us to really determine our niche as well as develop other skills. We are really excited for this as it has helped countless other small businesses become very successful in our industry. In keeping with our earlier advice about always being willing to learn – asking for help is not a bad thing. Responsibly investing in yourself and your dreams is not a bad thing. There are a lot of experts out there who would love to help you achieve your goals!
