We recently connected with Claire Torretto and have shared our conversation below.
Claire , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I think coming from N.Ireland we are built with natural resilience in us but most of it is from my mom and my Granny. They have always been a massive influence in how I approach life and it’s daily struggles.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’ve always had a love for film and had an eye for the castings in movies and TV shows but when my husband Christopher Torretto began acting, that’s when I really appreciated the work that goes into it all. Casting is a great section of the industry because you get to meet different people, hear their stories and watch them create art. I’m currently casting for a movie called OUTLAW BLUE and we’ve got some really great names cast already like Timothy V Murphy, Nina Bergman and UFC legend Chuck Liddell.
Then photography let’s you see the world through a different view. You get to explore the magic that we normally don’t pay attention to. You get to breathe in the peace of just taking your camera and going on an adventure.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Firstly, patience. You got to have patience in the film industry. There’s a lot of pressure in this industry to succeed and to do so fast but it doesn’t happen over night.
In casting it’s always good to just sit and take in the faces around you when you are out for your morning coffee or daily run. This helps you associate faces to characters and personalities and that’s key in casting.
Most importantly having a love and appreciation for people and the art. It’s a beautiful industry with a lot of interesting people and casting gives you that opportunity to explore it.
With photography, just lift your camera and get out there. Take pictures of everything and progress from there.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
My mom always told me to fly the nest and explore the world and that has always been a big influence for me. Then my dad who recently passed away was a Cheif Engineer in the RAF for 22years, travelled the world and always worked hard. So I think having both of them love and support me with everything they had provided me with a great beginning and appreciation for the little things.
