We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Veronique Barrillot a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Veronique, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
As a painter, as an artist ,i started to think of creating a kind of paintings that had never been done before.
I started to analyse what kind of illusion the art history was made of and i understood that most of the optic art that was created were a question of angle or use géométric forms.
I started then to think of a way to make an audience stay longer in front of paintings and to make people move around my paintings, step back and analyze what they were seing .
That is how i started to concentrate on 2 subjects at the same time to make the painting change in front of the viewer ‘s eyes while walking in front of it ….my goal was to create paintings representing a métaphor of steping back and jugement.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My artwork consists in playing with your brain.
I can concentrate on 2 differents subjects and paint them at the same time on the same canvas but you see one from far turning into a complete other painting when you come close .
It is a quantum artwork : 2 subjects existing on 2 different spots at the same time.
For example you see Salvador Dali when you are close and when you step back Abraham lincoln appears.
The art collectors are asking for their own 2 subjects ,if it tells a story that makes sensé i do it.
My brain is studied since 2019 in Lausanne, switzerland by doctor Olivier ROUAUD and we start now giving conférence about it .
Harvard, stanford ,Boston MIT would be great spots to talk about this very unique ability .
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Stubbornness is the word that comes to my mind.i was absolutly decided to find something new in the art history linked to the brain that can be shown in museums to make the audience think.
I love pushing boundaries and even if you go through hard time to succeed , the amount of selfesteem that you win when you reach your goal worth it.
There ain’t mountains big enough,it is often a matter of will and time so keep trying..
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I just started to create nice links with museums.
In switzerland and in France but i wish now to make contact with other art museum in the US and as i give now conference about my art, any connections with the MIT or Harvard university would be great : my quantum artwork is defenetly for curious mind.
