Meet Praneetha Mazumdar

We were lucky to catch up with Praneetha Mazumdar recently and have shared our conversation below.

Praneetha, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Every milestone rises from a dream, but my dream was aroused from a milestone. Dreams are an integral part of life, the more we dream, the better we aspire. I have dreamt of pursuing art as my career since the time I was a child. My dreams were colorful and art was not just an illusion, it was a part of my expressions. Being successful and winning in the field of art alone is not my ambition. I decided to pursue art as it is an intrinsic part of how I think and express myself. I am excited and enthusiastic to experience where this passion will take me. My enrollment at NYFA is a kickstart to my journey as an artist in pursuit of carving a niche for myself someday in the magical world of art and animation. I aspire to be recognized as an ethical and creative professional in the industry one day through my journey.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My passion for my long-lasting desire led to many obstacles and groundbreaking values during my journey at NYFA. Being an introvert since childhood, it was difficult for me to leave my comfort zone and reach out for opportunities. But time and my wisdom directed my perspective to explore my boundaries from discovering a new life and enthusiasm. Despite being hardworking and graduating with Cum Laude in my master’s degree, I had a dissatisfaction of being unemployed for more than six months. But when I’ve learned to create more opportunities instead of waiting for one, I’ve understood that life doesn’t go as we would expect anytime. At this point, I need additional production experience and a command of workplace culture to enhance my profile. I’ve been contributing to student projects for friends and coworkers as an animator and content creator. I am currently working as a volunteer Lead Animator at Epoch Games, a startup gaming studio. Here, I am working on the game demo for ‘The Lays of Althas : Sundered Order’.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Firstly, adapting to constructive criticism and being more proactive and less reactive is the prime ability. Dealing with an intimidating world and lacking self-esteem could break down our competency. Prompting our spirit to refine our flaws can be worked when we constructively adapt to our imperfections.
Secondly, overcoming obstacles with a great deal of patience and strategic thinking. Good things take time and the smart way of dealing with the time and situation makes a difference between being wise or a fool.
Last but not least, accepting our failures in life is essential. There is nothing wrong with saying or accepting a ‘NO’. You will never lose anything if you’re ever turned down in life. Rejections are better than regrets.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

I acknowledge myself in a contrasting way compared to who I was before traveling here. It was challenging for me to come to terms with the fact that I was capable of changing and adjusting to the situations surrounding me. I’ve learned to develop my self-confidence and discovered the purpose of life while chasing my dream. It required significant effort for me to step out of my comfort zone and overcome the boundaries I had set around my world. Reflecting on my past experiences, I sometimes chuckle at how irrational I was in handling my concerns. I also feel proud and overwhelmed by my growth and transformation when reflecting on my journey. Life serves as the ultimate teacher, time acts as the perfect healer, and our strong conscience functions as a valuable therapist. Our perception of life as either pleasurable or miserable is entirely dependent on our own efforts.
