Meet Anthony Deljou

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anthony Deljou. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Anthony, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

At a pretty young age, I was pretty much thrown into the adult conversation with the circumstances that faced my family. In 1979, my family like many other Persian families, left Iran and migrated to the US. When we arrived, my parents who did not speak any English had to establish a new life and start over. As a young 8-year-old, within a few months I spoke enough broken English to become the family translator and then soon after, the family negotiator. From dealing with the Utility and the gas companies to negotiating the purchase of my mom’s first car, I got a pretty quick education in wheeling and dealing. At some point through that process, I imagine my confidence and self-esteem elevated as I took on those types of responsibilities. It was an amazing education and one that value to this day.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the President and CEO of Deljou Holdings, the parent company of multiple Art Companies within the Art Industry.
In 1982 My father and his two younger brothers started an art publishing company by the name of Graphique Dujour, which later rebranded as Deljou Art Group. Today, Deljou Art Group is the country’s largest Art Publishing operation representing some of the most established and emerging artist from around the world. The company is a B to B business selling the works of nearly forty artists to Galleries and the interior design community around the globe. I started working for Deljou Art Group in the late 80’s when i was in high school, attending trade shows during the summer and spring break. After graduating college in 1994, I started in the sales department full time, later becoming the Sales Manager and ultimately the President and CEO of the company years later. During that period, we expanded our footprint in the art industry by launching DAC Art Consulting, the country’s largest Art consulting firm specializing in the Hospitality and Heathcare sectors, Level57 Art Studio, our home furnishing division and Connect Contemporary our fine art division. We operate all of our brands out of our corporate headquarters in West Midtown Atlanta alongside 100 amazing team members.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Personally, i think my childhood and my early experiences with “hustling” built the foundation of my character and skill set. From raking people’s lawns for $5.00, or sweeping the neighborhood Taco Bell lot for a few tacos or selling cinnamon toothpicks at elementary school for ten cents, I’ve always been busy trying to make a deal. It didn’t matter if it took me all day to rake the yard or if i spent $5 to sell $2 worth of toothpicks. It was a win for me. That sense of accomplishment for putting in the work and seeing a reward was what i was after. Most of us have had the experience of planting a garden in the summer. Its not that it makes sense to plant a home garden financially, because by the time you add up all the time, effort and cost that goes into it, it would be much cheaper to buy the vegetables at the store. It’s the sense of accomplishment that we get by seeing the fruits of our labor, no pun intended. I think entrepreneurs in general have to take that risk and in most cases the numbers don’t make sense, but if you have that drive, the goal and are ambitious enough, with a little hustle, there is a good chance you’ll make it work.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

We are always looking at collaborative opportunities with either artist who are looking for distribution or clients that are looking for creative solutions to their projects or offerings. If you are an artist that is looking to get distribution/ representation in selling your original artwork or have an interest in Licensing your work, we have multiple channels for you to collaborate with us. With our clientele, we offer several collaborative programs that support their sales effort depending on the specific sectors that they serve.
