Meet Janet Perales

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Janet Perales. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Janet, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My parents are my biggest inspirations. They immigrated to America with nothing, and built a wonderful life for themselves and our family of 6. They’ve taught me to dream big, and because of them, I know I can achieve anything I put my mind to.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I work in Digital Marketing! I’ve built a small community on Tiktok showcasing my life and favorite spots around Houston, @jannetperales. My Tiktok actually helped me land my first job in digital marketing post grad at Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen as their digital media coordinator, and now I’m working at Buffbunny Collection, on their social media/production team.
I’m very grateful that this industry has introduced me to so many great, inspiring likeminded individuals. I truly love what I do and I’m so excited for what’s to come.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

My tenacity, ability to self improve, and accept constructive criticism. My biggest piece of advice would be to put yourself out there if you have no experience in the field yet. Go out of your way to create content on your own that show your skills so that employers can see what you can do for them.
Most importantly, don’t be discouraged after multiple rejections. All it takes is one person to say yes. I promise, the yes WILL come if you keep trying. Once you’re in the industry, it’s crucial to take criticism gracefully from those with more experience. If you truly aspire to be the best at what you do, you’ll learn, learn, learn – from your own work and those around you.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I would love to collaborate with small businesses in the Houston area for my Tiktok account! If you need a marketing push on social media, I’m your gal! You can find me @jannetperales.
I’d also be thrilled to collaborate with other creators in Houston/professionals in the same field on any projects that need creative direction or a social media strategy.
