Meet Ko Jo

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ko Jo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ko below.

Hi Ko, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.

I developed my ability to take risk when I realized the importance of making a change if I wanted to make a difference.

A lot of people get stuck in a certain place in life because they are afraid of doing something different. They are afraid of going somewhere different. They are afraid of meeting new people. I think most people wait until they are tired and burnt out before seeking change. Thankfully, I learned QUICK to change with the times.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m an Entrepreneur with many skills and a pretty decent network. I have a Mobile Bartending Business that I have been developing since 2018. It started with me always wanting to pre-flight before any event and friends would always love my drinks so in May of 2018 I crafted the Pineapple Passion Punch! It was a hit! Sold out the pilot day and every weekend after. By the end of Summer 2018, I crafted up to 3 original flavors that you WILL NOT be able to find ANYWHERE else to date. By the time the pandemic of 2020 started, I had decided to branch out. I created a the name “Korazi Juice” and really received a lot of exposure. I literally went from riding around with a cooler to Jartending events, Korazi Juice was in demand. The reactions I would receive, as well as the compliments and referrals really helped to fuel my ambitions. To date, I have crafted 12 original Flavors and 2 flavors I consider to be an enhancement from its original flavor. 😋 @Korazi.Juice on Instagram is where you can check out the fun.

After finding my rhythm with Korazi Juice, I began to realize it was time to step out and bring another passion to the forefront, helping women feel beautiful. For those who are unfamiliar, Lash extensions are semi-permanent hair fibers that are applied strand by strand to your natural lashes. It’s extremely tedious but it’s much calmer and quieter than Mobile Bartending for sure. Lol. I first had my lashes done in December 2017 and fell in love with them, I’ve never been big on makeup so to have an enhancement that was so natural looking was exciting. I instantly thought this was something I could do. After a couple years of watching videos, following different techs, looking at the numbers, and wanting to add something else to my list of things to do I knew I could be a Lash Enhancement Tech!! I sought out and learned from an amazing Lash Tech in Maryland. April 2022 I took her certification class and began taking lash model appointments in her studio. From there, “Korazi Lashez” was born. I’ve been learning so much through this journey. Finding methods that are suitable for the needs of the everyday woman. I enjoy being Mobile so that clients can be most relaxed in a space of their choosing and still have a full studio experience. I’m a girls girl so to make the ladies feel pretty is the icing on the cake. To keep up with my lash journey, one could follow @Korazi.lashez on Instagram.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey were:
1. The quality of being myself. We as humans have the ability to attract the energy you want around as well as removing the energy we don’t wish to have around us. Pick clients the way clients pick you. Stay true to yourself. It’s important to know that all business isn’t good business.
2. The skill of learning. It’s important to read for knowledge, communicate to inform/ask questions when you really don’t know and be able to implement what you have learned. This is important for growth. Not just in business but in life.
3. A good bit of knowledge to know is that for anything you want to do in life, any goal you wish to reach, there is a blueprint. You always hear people say don’t reinvent the wheel, while that holds true, I always say don’t reinvent it, customize it. Make it yours, make it true to you and make it fit your targeted audience.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?

I think it’s better to go all in on our strengths and once you feel that you have mastered something, began to invest effort on improving areas you aren’t strong in. I personally am a Jane of all trades. I’ve done a little bit of everything from hair care, security, organizing for Human Rights, mobile bartending, mobile Lash Tech, and more. I’m absolutely well rounded and I always feel like there’s too much happening to ever feel stuck where I don’t want to be, doin what doesn’t make me happy. So I learn and then learn more.
