We were lucky to catch up with Victoria Garcia recently and have shared our conversation below.
Victoria , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
After surviving cancer by the grace of God, I had an entire different perspective in life I understood that we all have a purpose in life. I know my purpose is to help others, especially kids and young adults being affected by cancer. Floristry became my therapy and grew to be my passion. It is my dream to someday fill a room with flowers and people who come together and gather funds to help families who are being effected with cancer.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
During remission I felt like I couldn’t control my thoughts of what had happened, it seemed like anxiety and depression wanted to hold my hand, I called my uncle who works in dtla as a flower distributor and asked if I could volunteer to help with flowers. He put me in contact with a friend and the rest was History! I would distract my mind and feel so happy and useful again! I later opened up my own Instagram account and started selling flowers! I’m focused on growing my business to make my family proud and to provide assistance to families whose kids or family is being affected by cancer.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The number one quality I think all people should have is to be a good person, no matter what you decide to do, no matter what passion you follow or career you go after be sure to try and be helpful to others.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Floristry is nature it’s a beautiful space and to me it’s art. When I get overwhelmed I turned to God and I take small breaks but I try again. When trying to perfect a skill I practice and ask for family’s input or even help, you’d be surprise and glad to have reached out for help.
