We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ronnie T a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ronnie, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I think I get my work ethic from seeing the strong women in my family. My mother was a hard worker growing up, she always had a job and made sure we had food on the table. Times were tough and she struggled with some things but seeing her overcome her struggles showed me that if I really want something I have to work for it. Both of my grandmothers had full time jobs and both instilled in me how important it was to work for my family and make sure I pay my bills. I have worked since the age of 15, I started in a little Mexican restaurant making breakfast tacos. I liked having my own money and not having to ask anyone for anything, money was definitely the motivator for me. Since then I have always had a job, after having kids I knew I wanted to make sure they knew that nothing in life is handed to you and you have to work for everything you want. This is what now motivates me to have a better work ethic.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I create beautifully arranged Charcuterie Boards and Grazing tables. Most recently I have added on Floral arrangements and Charcuterie inspired merchandise. I have an eye for detail and creativity and I love to bring visions to life. What I think is special about what I do is that I provide a product that not very many get to enjoy often but when its provided by me I give so many variations to my boards and provide so much variety that they get a chance to experience the many different ways to enjoy a charcuterie board in one sitting. I also feel that I am very relatable to my customers, making them comfortable to where they can easily order from me and I take the stress off them. I do have a Mobile Charcuterie cart coming out soon that I am so excited to share with my customers, I am also continuing to work on expanding my floral business.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would say that the 3 qualities that were most impactful on my journey was my perseverance, my drive and my curiosity. I think if you are going to own a business you have to know that there are ups and downs, you also have to accept that not everyone will want or like what you are offering and that’s ok. Those who do love what you offer will find a way to you and will support your business. I still get discouraged from time to time but I have to keep telling myself this over and over. I would also say to someone just starting that its ok to fall, just get right back up, dust yourself off and come back harder than before.
