We caught up with the brilliant and insightful PikaBelleChu a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
PikaBelleChu, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I’m constantly thinking and pursuing new ideas and creating a fantasy world into reality, my brain never shuts off, either it be designing a new costume that I make and wear to all the events I’m a guest at to creating all kinds of arts and crafts you can see at my setup at numerous conventions or other events I’ve done the past 25 years.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
For over 25 years I have shared my passion and dedication to Pokémon from attending conventions and events in the costumes I create to hosting panels, judging or running costume contests at events, visiting children in schools and hospitals for charity organizations and have also attended as a guest to official Pokémon events through the years. I have also appeared in numerous magazines and been featured on television for my dedication. I was also featured in the Guinness Book of World Records for my Chuseum, a collection of over now 23,000 items and collectables featuring Pikachu. I also have a Pikachu car named “PikaBug” that you can see on display at the many events I’m at.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My creativity and the art to pursue them into reality is my strongest skill and quality, in the stress of the world we live in it’s always great to escape to a world of fantasy, become someone else and make others happy with what I do. You can’t please everyone and through the years people love to talk who dont understand, love drama and create false rumors or just not like you despite not knowing anything about you. At first it was quite upsetting and still can be at times but I wouldn’t change anything, you only have one life and if your not hurting anyone just be yourself, who cares what others think. I have met so many people through the years and been on so many journeys that it has only made me want to continue doing what I have done for many more years to come.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Take each day as it comes, as hard as it maybe sometimes, life is like a roller coaster, it can have its ups and downs and twist and turns. Just gotta stay positive.
