Meet Bree Williamson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bree Williamson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Bree, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Finding my purpose through photography has been an incredible journey. My passion sparked in my high school’s dark room, where I immersed myself in every photography class available, took on a teacher’s aid position to help my fellow classmates learn the art, and even took several Independent Study courses when I had exhausted the classes already offered. I realized that through my lens, I could freeze fleeting, beautiful, unique moments and retell stories through visual keepsakes.

From there, I immersed myself in the world of professional photography, honing my skills and learning to see the world with a more observant eye. Every couple, every family, every individual has a unique story, and I found immense passion in uncovering these narratives. Photography became more than just a hobby; it became a way for me to connect with people on a deeper level and to celebrate the love that binds us all.

The most rewarding part of this journey is witnessing these profoundly special, yet impermanent, moments and knowing that my clients and their families will be able to relive them through photographs for generations to come. The happy tears, the belly-deep laughter, and the overwhelming gratitude from my clients reaffirm my purpose. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that my work not only captures memories but also brings joy and strengthens bonds.

Through this passion, I’ve learned that love stories are universal yet profoundly personal, and my role as a photographer is to honor and showcase these stories in the most authentic way possible. This purpose gives my work meaning and keeps me inspired every day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

At Bree Claire Photography, I specialize in capturing extraordinary moments of love through the art of photography. My work focuses on creating visual keepsakes that tell heartfelt stories, whether it’s a couple’s wedding day, an engagement session, or a family portrait session. What excites me the most is the ability to freeze time and preserve genuine emotions—those brief, magical moments that might otherwise be lost.

My approach to photography is all about authenticity and creativity. I strive to make each session unique and tailored to the personalities and stories of my clients. Whether it’s finding the perfect light, setting up a scene, or catching candid interactions, every detail is thoughtfully considered to create images that are both beautiful and meaningful.

I’m thrilled to announce that Bree Claire Photography is expanding its services! We’re now offering destination wedding packages, allowing couples to capture their love stories in breathtaking locations around the world. Additionally, we will be launching a new offering– fine art cyanotype prints. Cyanotype prints are a unique form of fine art photography, renowned for their stunning blue hues and intricate details. Each print is hand-crafted using a historic process, making them truly one-of-a-kind. Their organic and unpredictable nature ensures that no two prints are alike, offering a distinctive and elegant addition to any art collection. I am very excited to be able to offer a special piece of photography history to my client’s collections!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Reflecting on my journey, three qualities that have been instrumental to my success are creativity, technical proficiency, and interpersonal skills. Creativity allows me to envision and capture unique perspectives and moments. Technical proficiency ensures I can execute my creative vision with precision and consistency. Interpersonal skills enable me to connect authentically with clients, fostering trust and capturing genuine emotions.

For those starting their journey, I recommend:

1.) Developing Creativity: Experiment with different styles and techniques. Study the work of other photographers across various genres. Challenge yourself to see familiar subjects in new ways. Additionally, seek inspiration from a diverse mix of art forms.

2.) Building Technical Proficiency: Master your camera and editing tools. Understand exposure, composition, and lighting techniques. Practice regularly to refine your skills and develop a consistent workflow.

3.) Enhancing Interpersonal Skills: Communication is key. Learn to listen actively and understand your clients’ preferences and expectations. Build rapport and create a comfortable environment during shoots to capture authentic moments.

Ultimately, passion and perseverance are essential. Embrace challenges as opportunities to grow, seek feedback from peers and mentors, and stay true to your artistic vision. With dedication and continuous learning, you’ll evolve not only as a photographer but also as a storyteller who captures moments that resonate deeply with others.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client appreciates the artistry and storytelling in photography. They value genuine moments and emotions captured authentically. They are open to collaboration, trusting me to interpret their vision while bringing my creative perspective to the table. Ideal clients understand the importance of investing in quality photography as a way to preserve and celebrate significant milestones in their lives.
