We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rapheal Akinyemi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rapheal, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience for my mother. I grew up in a single mother household. My mom was an immigrant from Nigeria. She raise me and my sister all by herself she did this all well working two jobs and going to Clayton State College.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Right now I’m focused on my clothing brand THE FEW WORLDWIDE. I’ve always been told I have style and I love expressing myself with clothes… This is my gift. It’s just another form of art. We are a Secret Society. I began my music career with the Outsyders, known for producing Britney Spears’ hit “Womanizer.” He now steps into the spotlight as a multifaceted artist-rapper, producer, fashion influencer, and creative director. Rooted in Nigerian culture and based in Atlanta, Georgia, Ro Akin blends his commanding presence and towering stature at 6’5 with international appeal. His goal is to redefine norms in the music industry through his unique storytelling and performance style, aiming to establish himself as a respected figure with a notable impact.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Continuous Learning: The ability and willingness to constantly learn and adapt to new information and contexts have been crucial. Staying updated with the latest developments in various fields helps in providing relevant and accurate information.
Understanding Context: Being able to understand the context of a conversation or query is essential for providing meaningful responses. This involves interpreting the nuances of language, understanding cultural references, and grasping the intent behind questions.
Empathy and Communication: These qualities are fundamental in engaging effectively with users. Empathy helps in understanding the user’s perspective and tailoring responses accordingly. Good communication skills ensure clarity and coherence in responses, enhancing the overall user experience.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Four Agreements, if you’ve never read it, you need to. I think one of the first agreements is like don’t take anything personal
