We recently connected with Danielle Nicole and have shared our conversation below.
Danielle, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I’m inspired by other people’s creativity. When I’m in a slump I’ll seek out art pop ups or go to a gallery to jump start my creative juices.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’ve been curious, creating and expressing myself through various creative endeavors for as long as I can remember. When I was young I was into the theater and dance (ballet, tap, jazz and modern). In college I discovered my love for jewelry design. I created my 1st necklace out of necessity and haven’t looked back since. About 10 years photography peeked by interest. I loved being able to tell stories through photos that didn’t require any words to be said.
If I had to choose between my interests, I would choose jewelry design. It allows me the most creative freedom and is the most challenging. I love looking at loose beads and watching that design come to me. I don’t sketch any of my designs out, whatever comes to me in that moment is what I create.
My favorite thing about creating my jewelry I only create 1 of each. It doesn’t matter if it’s a necklace, bracelet or pair of earrings. I want every piece to be unique.
I’m currently collaborating with a sculpture artist C.A. Hartway on a series that blends his futuristic sculptures with my bold jewelry designs. Kimora was our first collab, she is close to 6 ft tall and is absolutely stunning.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
These are the 3 rules I live by:
1. Don’t compare!
You’re art is for you and your target audience. No matter your medium and style….there is always someone that will appreciate your work! Don’t be afraid to put your art work out there. Art is meant to be seen and appreciated by the public.
2. Give yourself grace!
When you need to rest, take a break. Don’t be so far on yourself. Some of us are perfectionist, try your best not to block your own blessings by not putting your work out there.
3. Use social media!
It’s a free platform where your clients will gravitate towards you. Don’t worry about the likes …we are artists not influencers. Only a handful of people will know what you do, if you don’t share it with the world! Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there!
I understand that some people have an issue with putting their work online for various different reasons, but

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
For me, it’s more of what vs who. I took a business workshop for artist at the Lincoln Theater (Columbus,OH) and it was 1 of the most impactful things I’ve done for myself as an artist. I learned so much about taxes, insurance, marketing, branding project development, legal contracts and other things that have propelled me in my journey.
