Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ariella Benjaminov. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Ariella, thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout
Navigating the path of entrepreneurship comes with a unique set of challenges, often requiring me to juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously. This constant demand can quickly result in burnout. However, I’ve found two key strategies that help me maintain balance and sustain my passion.
Firstly, I prioritize maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Carving out time for family, friends, and outdoor activities is essential, even if it’s just as small as having my morning coffee outside in the fresh air. I make sure to allocate space in my calendar at least one time per week for a social event so I keep myself accountable. The intentional disconnection from work, allows me to return to my professional responsibilities with renewed energy and a refreshed mindset.
Secondly, cultivating passion and enjoyment in my work has been instrumental in avoiding burnout. Rather than getting entangled in the details of daily tasks, I make sure to remind myself of the broader vision and the ultimate goals that inspire me. Regularly reconnecting with the reasons I embarked on this entrepreneurial journey ensures that my work remains fulfilling and aligned with my personal aspirations. This perspective not only helps me tackle challenges with enthusiasm but also strengthens my commitment to my mission.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As the Founding Executive Director of the Austin-based nonprofit Bread For Better, my role encompasses everything from strategic planning for business growth to leading educational workshops. Bread For Better employs a unique approach to tackling food insecurity. We host bread baking workshops, where proceeds from each class directly support our community food giving program. This program involves baking and delivering fresh bread to communities experiencing food insecurity or homelessness. During these workshops, participants not only gain hands-on experience in bread making, but also receive education on the factors contributing to food insecurity and homelessness in our area.
I am also excited to announce the expansion of our mission through the introduction of Corporate Team Building Events. These events allow associates to volunteer their time baking bread for those in need while simultaneously engaging in a meaningful social activity designed to help prevent burnout in the corporate environment.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey have been perseverance, time management, and knowing how to use an excel sheet. For people early in their career, I would highly recommend getting yourself a virtual calendar where you can plan out your goals and keep yourself accountable.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always eager to collaborate with others who share a passion for food and philanthropy. Whether partnering with bakers and chefs to lead workshops or teaming up with restaurants and bars to co-host pop-up events, I thrive on building a community of like-minded individuals dedicated to making a positive impact.
