Meet Yessenia Chavarria

We recently connected with Yessenia Chavarria and have shared our conversation below.

Yessenia , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I believe my purpose gradually evolved and is continuing to evolve. I have always had a passion for the arts, people, and beauty industry. When I initially joined the industry, I started by doing lash extensions, it was just a job/hobby to bring in extra income not having to work for anyone else. About a year later I began to enjoy what I was doing and took a bigger interest into what the possibilities of self-employment and the beauty industry could bring. I then later went to makeup/fx academy and added Paramedical and Cosmetic Tattooing as well as a few more beauty services. Coming from a bartending background I absolutely love people! I enjoy making them feel comfortable, confident, and attractive. I realized I could use my skills for more than servicing the public but really specialize in clients with Auto-immune Disorders and Cancer Survivors. For example, I can do areolas for people who have had mastectomies, or scar camo for any traumas. SMP and Brows for those who have lost their hair, lash extension we can add color and life to the face, even spray tans for an extra glow! I can aide in restoring confidence because that is the first step in opening the doors to so much. To see the smile and the walk my clients have leaving the studio is the sole reason I do this and am grateful for my craft.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am originally from Las Cruces, NM, I’ve been in Dallas since 2005, so it’s home now. I am wife and mommy to a 1 ½ year old girl who keeps me busy and motivated. I love traveling and falling in love with places, people and foods. A natural hippie I enjoy the outdoors, hiking camping and tree hugging! I read and listen to quite a few audio books, mostly self-help, business, and history. I like to learn and grow but I enjoy sharing and teaching what I’ve learned to others wanting to grow as well.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Self-motivation, Persistence and Work-Ethic are 3 must haves to any self-employment type of career. The ability to find motivation within yourself, not always external is key. Keep pushing and working through situations to make sure you hit your goal or bring reality to the vision you have. Visualize your end goal. Grow and modify it with time as you see fit. Work towards it. Learn new skills to build it. Mistakes will be made, just breathe (cry, whatever helps), learn from it and shift. Shift and pivot until it works. Eventually it will. Life happens and we might have to pause, slow down, or start over, but don’t quit. Even if it’s just the bare minimum to keep the wheels turning. Keep working towards that goal while you deal with life. That is when you look within deep within yourself to find that extra oomph to keep going and work even harder to overcome obstacles. Also, don’t be afraid to research and ask questions most people like to help.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, we would love to partner and collaborate with more Plastic Surgeons, Auto-immune and Gender Centers, as well as other PMU/Lash Artist and Wig Makers. Working together so we may better serve our mutual client. The goal, is to be able to facilitate not just the clients journey of physical completion, but to give them a final sense of emotional and mental wholeness. For anyone wanting to partner on this mission can email, call, or text anytime. Follow or send a DM on Social Media.
