We were lucky to catch up with Nicholas Guest recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nicholas, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I’ve watched my mother be a remarkable person. She raised three boys alone while being vision impaired. We didn’t have much, but we had enough. She did the best she could, and she did a damn good job if you ask me. I want to take this moment to give that wonderful woman her flowers.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m the host of The Guest Show Podcast, which I co-host with Gunna Owen. We started this podcast to bring our long-standing conversations to a wider audience. We cover a range of topics, from local and international news to social media trends and everything in between, always sharing our unfiltered opinions. Our candid approach has resonated with our growing fan base. Starting September 6, 2024, we’ll also be on YouTube. While we planned to launch our visual content earlier, unforeseen circumstances delayed it. In the meantime, you can find us on Spotify and other platforms.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Honestly, consistency, tech-savviness, and having a distinct voice are crucial on this journey. Your voice needs to stand out because many people have podcasts nowadays. If you stand out, people will connect with you and become followers of your brand. Be yourself and be true to your listeners.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
We wanted to start interviewing various artists and individuals in Charleston to show that this city is more than just a tourist destination. Charleston boasts talented musicians and people who can eloquently explain the Gullah Geechee culture. There’s so much more to explore, and we’ll be bringing these stories to the podcast soon.
