We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kenia Del Viento. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kenia below.
Hi Kenia, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
In 2021, I was suffering from depression and burnout. I remember that I felt hopeless and alone. One night my body started to burst in rashes, and I was so scared when the doctor told me it was because of stress and anxiety. It was as if I had been shaken and made aware of my reality. As a first-generation immigrant, I dedicated my life to pursuing the American dream without prioritizing my well-being. After this, I realized my self-care should always be my first concern.
At 28, I went to therapy for the first time; I started healing many traumas that were impacting the value I would put on myself. I discovered my value and voice, which I had abandoned all this time. I created awareness about generational cycles that kept me small and afraid affecting my life and the lives of those around me. Healing increased my self-worth and reminded me of the dreams that were placed in my heart. I realized I was living for others and not for myself and from that moment, I decided to choose me and my dreams.
I invested in a life group coaching program; I connected with my values, priorities, and dreams. In this group, I found a community of humans who were also the first in their families to choose themselves and their goals. Through the power of coaching, I discovered my authentic self and uncovered the lies about who I was and who I needed to be. This allowed me to connect to my truest self and align my actions with my values and aspirations. Knowing who I am and having a supportive community has allowed me to step into my power and take courageous actions to go after my desires. Prioritizing self-care, being on my healing journey, and embracing myself and my vision are key to developing my self-esteem; taking small daily steps in these areas strengthens my worthiness and confidence.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I migrated to Caruthers, California from Baja California, Mexico at eleven years old. My passion and dedication to my roots and community grew continuously as I navigated being an undocumented, first-generation, Latina immigrant. Journaling my thoughts through my experiences allowed me to build resilience and manifest my dreams. My passion for teaching and uplifting my community grew stronger during college when I understood firsthand the disadvantages immigrant, first-generation Latinas have to face in this country.
In 2018, I moved to Austin to continue advancing my career as a bilingual educator. In 2020, I published my poetry book “Versos Del Viento” to showcase my experience as an undocumented immigrant and first-generation Latina. After 5 years in education, I decided to focus on my mental health and take a break from teaching to reconnect with myself and my passion. Investing in healing and transformation allowed me to create awareness of my power and gifts and own my worth. Now I am on a mission to empower other Mujeres to do the same.
I am a creative entrepreneur, life coach, educator, and poet. I am dedicated to empowering others to own their worthiness, show up authentically, and live a fulfilling life. I offer 1:1 life coaching services, journaling circles, poetry readings, notebooks, and safe and intentional community spaces.
I am passionate about uplifting and supporting my community through holding space, using my voice, and sharing my story. I am a member of the Women Of ALPFA Austin committee, a circle leader inside Amigahood of the #WeAllGrow Latina community, and the co-founder of the Self Worth Squad, a community membership for you and your inner niña.
My mission is to stand in my power (embrace my worthiness, share my voice, live authentically, and create intentional safe spaces) and inspire, teach, and empower my community to do the same.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Choosing worthiness, committing to my authenticity, and creating with courage were and continue to be the most impactful forces of my journey. I’ve had to learn to use these tools repeatedly as I continue to evolve in my creative, professional, and personal life.
Reframing my mindset around my sense of worth and belonging is pivotal for my continuous growth and transformation. I have to honor my authenticity with love and compassion every step, every day, every way. Walking new paths requires honoring my story, who I was, and who I am becoming with love and care.
Creating with courage and taking bold action with my ideas increases my confidence and expands my power and voice. My creativity becomes a gift for myself, others, and my ecosystem. Understanding that my creativity transforms into a ripple effect that always comes back to me to spark another idea in me is something I hold dearly.
If you are ready to stand in your power with confidence, I invite you to listen to the whispers of your heart by journaling, practicing stillness, or walking in nature. Then, find your community, those who will guide you in your own powerful journey.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who is doing everything they are supposed to be doing “by the book,” but knows and feels like something is missing. They struggle to stand up for themselves, to advocate for themselves, to say “no,” to set boundaries, and to voice their needs and wants. My ideal client wants to feel worthy, live authentically, nourish healthy relationships, share their voice, and accomplish their professional, artistic, and personal dreams. They have tried different things, but have not accomplished this for themselves.
My clients are BIPOC, multicultural, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+. Many are first-generation immigrants and cycle breakers. They are ready to choose themselves first and go after their dreams. They are resilient and want to commit to their healing and transformation journey to live a fulfilling life full of honesty, courage, ease, peace, and abundance.
