We were lucky to catch up with Jacob Hollingsworth recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jacob, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
My confidence and self-esteem are very difficult to explain. I find it odd when I get asked this question because it’s the little things that I think everyone walks around with, but then I realized, people have to learn some of the things that may come natural to me, and I realize again, we’re all not the same. I had to learn things that may come natural to others. Confidence can often come across to some as cockiness, but it’s all about perspective. I try not to display my confidence and put on a persona that’s less intimidating to make others comfortable, but then I realized that I was only marginalizing myself. You just need to be conscious of your surroundings. I definitely try to be very conscious of my ego as well, because it can get out of control if I don’t pay attention to it. But the older I get, the more I realize how to navigate any room with the same amount of confidence and try not to change who I am or marginalize my confidence. People will either like you, or not like you. Rarely is there any in-between there. Be who you are.
How do you learn to be who you are? It starts at a young age, I feel. It’s possible as an adult to go back and re-live your childhood memories, but carrying those memories of yourself as a child and the confidence boost your parents may have given you by encouraging you to be who you want to be from day 1 definitely plays a huge part. My father always believed in me. My mom never told me I couldn’t be something. She allowed me room to be who I wanted to be. Sometimes she may not have understood my ways, haha, but she never said, “Jacob, you can’t be this… you can’t be that.” She was as supportive as she could be. And she would say, “Stop saying ‘CAN’T’! You can!” And it’s something that just always stuck with me and confidence comes from believing you CAN. So, that’s where it started, I suppose.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am currently working on a dance album, ‘RED: The Dance Album’. This is a project that’s been a long time coming. I initially had the vision back in 2016, but it never materialized completely. Things will be different this time around. This project should be completely released by the end of 2024.
I am also working on a new novel called, ‘APED’. It’s a fiction – Drama – Action – Supernatural – Mystery novel about 2 young adults who attend a university, and they jokingly go on a supernatural journey before realizing how real the supernatural actual is. I hope to be finished writing it by the end of 2024. I know there was a suspected completion date of Fall 2024 across my social media accounts, but you cannot rush perfection. So, it’ll be ready when it’s ready, haha.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
QUALITIES: Self-Discipline, Love, Courage
The key to success, especially in this era where the attention span is completely shot, is to stay focused and disciplined. It’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing and social media, but it’s best to stay focused on your vision for your future. How can you obtain and reach your dreams when you are doing what everyone else is doing? If you want extraordinary results, you have to take extraordinary actions. As simple as that.
LOVE what you do. Love the people you meet along the way on your journey. Show grace to those who aren’t understanding of you or your actions. Be polite and kind. Even when you may feel like it’s not possible, it is. You know how you may have had to fake a smile with a customer or someone in the past? Make that smile and laughter genuine by understanding that someone has a different reality than yourself. Enjoy the fact varying perspectives exist outside of your own reality.
Have the courage to take risks and chances. Life can be scary, but those who embrace their fears ultimately conquer them. If it scares you, just DO IT. Don’t cheat yourself. Do all those things that intimidate you.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always… ALWAYS open to working with different people. It just puts a spark within me seeing people doing things. Progressive actions always make me happy when I see someone changing for the better. With collaboration, it’s that. Crafting an entirely different mold of whatever that creation is by partnering with someone cannot be replaced by anything. Yes, I love to work alone, but it’s not nearly as impactful or meaningful as making and creating things with others.
So, if you’re reading this, I am open to whatever you do. If it makes sense and it’s a vision I feel I can have an impact on, even if it’s not within my own natural scope, I am on board. Let’s try to make it happen. Entrepreneurs, singers, economists, architects, I don’t care. I just love the idea of collaboration, and I want to do it 10 times more in 2025 and forward for sure. No question. Let’s skip the politics of it all and make it happen.

I am really easy to get ahold of. But when you do, just know I take professionalism very seriously. So, make sure you are on point and there is clear communication. That’s all I ask.
