Meet Topher Hall

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Topher Hall. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Topher below.

Topher, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?

My self care routine relies on prioritizing me. I know that sounds harsh, and self-care can be an unpopular topic sometimes but it is the truth. I know I can’t work effectively when I’m not in my best mental state. When there are always people waiting to grab time from me, it is crucial to take moments for myself. I take time to meditate, journal, pray, exercise, and play video games. These moments help me de-stress. Then, I can come back to my work with more intention, more focus, and fresh ideas. I can tell the difference in myself if I skip my self-care. I feel more on edge and less grounded. My mind and body always find a way to remind me to re-focus.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am an actor and producer. My passion for acting began early in life, influenced by my grandfather. I fondly remember watching him watch Westerns, those classic old-time movies that brought him so much joy. That joy was contagious, and it sparked my own interest in the film industry.

My first job was as an usher at a movie theater, which turned out to be an invaluable experience. The owner allowed me to stay after-hours to watch movies without sound. It was super weird at the time, but it turns out it was a fantastic learning opportunity. Watching films in this way forced me to focus on the actors’ performances and taught me a great deal about non-verbal storytelling.

Though my path to acting was unique, it was incredibly enriching. I spent several years working for the government, traveling the world, and safeguarding top-secret technology in some of the world’s most classified locations. These experiences were vital, giving me a broader perspective on life and humanity. This global exposure has deeply influenced my approach to acting, providing me with a rich tapestry of experiences to draw upon in my craft.

I am now the lead in an amazing film, “Oswald Down the Rabbit Hole,” also starring Ernie Hudson, directed by Lilton Stewart III. I am super excited to show the world this groundbreaking film.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The qualities I feel I have tapped into since a young age that have greatly impacted my career are being a lifetime learner, persistence no matter what, and my empathy. I have always been curious, reaching for more, trying to absorb more from everyone and everything around me. I still remember being a teenager wanting to quit drum lessons, and my mom pushed me not to quit. Now, I love drumming still to this day. This is a perfect example of what was instilled in me. Drive and persistence is something I continue to bring to all my work. Building relationships is also important. Finding a way to connect and relate to others is key. I’ve always been able to connect with people from all walks of life. As I continue in this industry I refuse to lose my sense of caring and connection with others. The best advice I can give is to stay curious, stay driven, and stay kind.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

For me, the most important book in my development has been the Bible. The most impactful lesson it has taught me is that the Lord is my strength and my refuge. I trust in Him completely, knowing that He guides and controls everything. The verse that resonates deeply with me is, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” This belief has been a cornerstone in my life, providing me with unwavering strength and confidence in every challenge I face.
