Meet Amy Nadimi

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amy Nadimi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Amy, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

Growing up, I saw firsthand the impact of kindness and support within my community. My parents often opened our home to friends and family in need, instilling in me the value of giving without judgment. In my neurofeedback practice, I spend extra time with each client, ensuring they feel supported and heard. This approach isn’t just about providing a service; frankly, I could shorten my sessions and make significantly more money, but it’s about genuinely caring for the well-being of others. I believe everyone has their own god-given talents, and mine happens to be the ability to hold a space of unconditional love for others.

I believe that generosity is rooted in empathy and understanding. As a mental health advocate and a professional working with individuals facing various challenges, I’ve seen how small acts of kindness can make a significant difference in someone’s life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

As a neurofeedback practitioner, I have the privilege of working in a field that is both incredibly rewarding and unique. In my practice, I offer passive microcurrent neurofeedback sessions that help individuals manage stress, anxiety, anger, ADHD, ASD, OCD, sleep issues, and more. What excites me most about this work is the profound impact it has on my clients’ lives by helping them achieve mental and emotional balance. Each session is tailored to the individual’s needs, and I dedicate extra time to ensure every client feels seen and heard.

I never saw myself as an artist, more so a design enthusiast. However, in my neurofeedback practice, I encourage my clients to explore their creativity as a way to spend more time in a productive, meditative state. Often, my clients push back, focused on the outcome, and say, “But Amy, I’m not an artist.” To inspire and encourage my clients, I decided to share my own creative outlets. By walking the walk, I hope to demonstrate the value of shifting their lifestyle to include time for creative expression. Sharing my own artistic pursuits has not only enriched my creative process but has also brought immense support and encouragement from my clients. What started as a way to inspire others has come back to me tenfold, enhancing my work and life.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Reflecting on my journey, I believe the three most impactful qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge were empathy, continuous learning, and resilience. Here’s how these played a role in my path and advice for those early in their journey:

Empathy:

Impact: Empathy has been crucial in my work as a neurofeedback practitioner. Understanding and genuinely caring for my clients’ experiences have allowed me to connect with them on a deeper level, fostering trust and more effective treatment.
Advice: Cultivate empathy by actively listening to others and putting yourself in their shoes. Volunteer, engage in community service, and interact with diverse groups of people. These experiences will enhance your ability to understand and relate to different perspectives.

Continuous Learning:

Impact: The field of neurofeedback and mental health is constantly evolving. Staying updated with the latest research, techniques, and technologies has been vital in providing the best care for my clients. Additionally, my exploration of creativity has enriched both my personal and professional life.
Advice: Make learning a lifelong habit. Stay curious and open-minded. Take courses, attend workshops, read extensively, and seek mentorship. The more knowledge and skills you acquire, the better equipped you’ll be to adapt and excel in your field.

Resilience:

Impact: The journey hasn’t always been smooth. Facing challenges and setbacks with resilience has been key to maintaining my practice and personal well-being. Resilience has helped me bounce back stronger and more determined.
Advice: Build resilience by embracing challenges and viewing failures as learning opportunities. Practice self-care, develop a strong support network, and maintain a positive outlook. The ability to persevere through tough times will set you apart and keep you moving forward.

For those early in their journey, focus on developing these qualities. Empathy will help you connect with others, continuous learning will keep you at the forefront of your field, and resilience will ensure you thrive despite challenges. Embrace these traits, and you’ll find success and fulfillment in your path.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is someone who is open-minded, committed to personal growth, and willing to actively engage in their healing process. In my practice, I see all sorts of clients, from young children to teens and college students, as well as working professionals and stroke recovery clients. These wide variety of individuals come to me with different goals, and I am dedicated to helping each of them achieve their desired outcomes. The more open-minded the person, the better the results tend to be. It’s important to understand that the solution is never just one thing. While neurofeedback can be incredibly helpful and life-changing, most people should be open to making a few lifestyle tweaks to enhance the quality of their lives. Whether it’s incorporating more creative activities or adjusting daily habits, these changes, combined with neurofeedback, can lead to profound improvements in mental and emotional well-being.

Furthermore, my clients are a joy for me to work with because they genuinely want to receive the help I am able to provide. I find immense fulfillment in seeing their commitment to making positive changes in their lives. This genuine investment in my clients’ outcomes is why I love what I do and why I am so passionately dedicated to helping each individual achieve their full potential.
