Meet Daniel Tintle

We recently connected with Daniel Tintle and have shared our conversation below.

Daniel , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

Creativity is something that comes natural when you enjoy what you’re doing, it’s not something you need to sit down and go “okay let me try and create something,” – you’ve already lost. It should come to mind naturally without having to dissect it out of yourself.

The telltale sign your passionate in something is when you can’t turn it off. When your mind gets absolutely bombarded and overwhelmed with creative thoughts that you actually need to figure out a way to organize them and compartmentalize. THAT is when you know you are in the right space.

I find the most telltale symptom of not being passionate about something is when’re actually unable to be creative about it. When you run out of gas soon after starting, you probably should try something else that makes you feel inspired soon after thinking about it.

But if you have a deep connection with something, there will always be an unlimited flow of creativity to keep it pushing forward.

The same goes for relationships, careers, and any work you’re doing in any sector.

“Where there’s a will, there’s a way,” is the simplest way to put it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

The term “No Politics” is usually a head turner when people first hear it. I see this drawn look of mystique on their face as they try to internally distinguish what side of the fence my discussions are on.

The term “politics” originated from the Ancient Greeks and was defined as referring to the “affairs of the city” which still holds true today.

How would you define the term politics? I’ll give you mine: “the set of affairs involving a group of people with different power dynamics.”

When we think of politics we tend to think of what just takes place in Washington DC. The capital of politics on the macro sure, but politics takes place all over, everyday, on every level, at every moment.

You’re probably dealing with 20+ political issues in your own life right now. Having a party and unsure if you should invite a certain friend because if you don’t, their feelings might get hurt which may lead to other issues down the road??? Politics.

The police officer pulls over their friend’s son for speeding….no ticket??? Politics. Ticket? Politics.

You’re subconsciously, or very consciously, analyzing the power dynamics involving a set of affairs that will most likely have future consequences for yourself and the people who will be affected. Ever hear someone say “Put your ego down for a second,” they’re probably trying to remove the power dynamic from playing a role in the final decision of an affair.

The podcast “No Politics” serves to analyze world issues for the best and most functionally clear solutions to any affair without allowing the different power dynamics to infiltrate and influence them. The most important issues of our time: violence, homelessness, the economy, abortion, and healthcare are just a few – I could go on. I’m sure you have some categories pop up in your head as you read this. DM me and let me know, I’ll do a podcast on them.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Knowledge is always the single most important aspect in anything. The more you know, the easier the hurdles are, the less painful a process will be, and the more likely you will avoid a struggle.

No one knows all things, however reading one sentence, or hearing the right person speak on something can save you a LOT of time in the long run. Research after research seems redundant sometimes, however when you eventually come across something you’ve been looking for, or better yet, discovered something you didn’t realize was out there, you’ll get that “AHHHH HAAAAAA” moment like a baby boomer finally finding that one word in a word search.

Advice: Research after research on your specific topic. There’s never enough. If I do know one thing it’s this (and no one does this).

I’ve learned people do not do the homework that you assume they’ve done. The more research you do on your own, the deeper you can go on any one topic. Most people you find out are out here winging things and sometimes are successful at doing so. If you want to separate yourself from the pack though, do your research, on your own, going as far as the information will take you.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

#1 Limit your feeling of being overwhelmed by understanding that completing your to do list will take longer than you originally expected. Double your expected window of completion.

#2 Write everything down that is overwhelming you (usually the checklist you have in your head that needs to get done).

#3 Once everything is written down, prioritize them in what NEEDS to be done first. I define NEED as if this something does not get done, then functionality will stop and you won’t physically be able to progress onto the next item.

#4 Block everything out. Start from the top. You cannot move on until the first one is completed. You cannot even touch or dabble with any creative ideas until the first item is completed in its full. Hope this helps!
