Meet Tamie Peel

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tamie Peel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Tamie with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I get my work ethic from my parents. They were both dedicated and extremely hard working entrepreneurs. My Dad was a truck driver and owned his own trucking business, and my Mom was a hair stylist and owned and operated her own salon.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the founder, sole proprietor, and Director of Operations of Creative Connections. My agency supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live, learn, and work in their communities. I feel the relationships we build and the quality of services we provide to each person, set us apart in our specific field.

We have a fun event coming up on 8/24/24, our first annual Arts & Crafts show! Some of the people we support are showcasing their arts and crafts, along with a variety of artists and crafters in the community. The event will be held from 12pm-4pm at Green Township Senior Center, 3620 Epiley Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45247. We are still accepting artists and crafters who want to join in the fun. Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three things that were most impactful in building my agency over the past 11 years are pretty simple. Approach everything with an open mind and kind heart, really listen to what people have to say, and ensure prompt responses to phone calls, texts, emails.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

My parents provided the framework for who I am as a person and how I conduct myself in every aspect of my life. They taught me that kindness matters and hard work goes a long way. Both of my parents were entrepreneurs. Because of them, I saw first hand how much work and sacrifice goes into running a business. The values they instilled in me are the core of who I am as a person, both in business and in life. I am forever grateful for everything they taught me! Unfortunately, I lost both of my parents, about a year apart, in 2015 and 2016, but I know they would be proud of me and everything I’ve accomplished, I just wish they were here to see it.
