We were lucky to catch up with Elle Horton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Elle, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose through life experiences and professional environments, realizing early on that helping others gave me immense emotional fulfillment. As an empath and intuitive person, I easily identify people’s needs and concerns, often before they do. My journey began as a wardrobe stylist in Atlanta while working in retail management. Over the past 20 years, I honed my listening skills and the ability to offer bold, non-judgmental advice. This led to being sought after for my guidance, turning one-on-one styling sessions and managing former staff members into clients.
My purpose is to help others ignite the spark within them to find their own purpose. I am deeply committed to personal development and knowledge. In recent years, I have focused on emotional intelligence in leadership, realizing that leading with purpose is more effective than simply coaching for compliance. This understanding has been pivotal in my journey to discovering my purpose as a transformation coach and personal brand strategist and entrepreneur.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Elle Horton, a transformation coach, personal brand strategist and entrepreneur. I help women and entrepreneurs with reinventing their career path and establishing their personal brand. I use the method of PEA (positive emotional attractors) and NEA (negative emotional attractors). This method is used to assist my clients with identifying the “ought self vs the ideal self, which allows them to create a personal vision for their future. The goal is to create effective lasting change that will align their values, skills and natural talents.
One advantage of my services is my diverse background. With experience as an image consultant, fashion director, and founder of a women empowerment apparel brand, I coach women on various levels. As a transformation coach, I continually reinvent myself and have recently launched the podcast “Restyling Your Path” to share my personal transformation journey. My expertise in different roles allows me to provide firsthand advice on personal development and business coaching.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three key qualities helped me the most. First, getting clear on my goals and gathering all the information I needed to achieve my personal vision was crucial. Even though I understood my values and skillset, I was venturing into a new direction with coaching. So, I decided to get certified in coaching and leadership to structure my knowledge and experience. My advice to anyone reinventing themselves is to learn all you can about your industry to be confident in your new path.
Secondly, I recommend connecting with groups that support your new direction, whether virtually or in person. I found like-minded individuals through masterclasses, webinars, and social media. This was incredibly helpful, providing both support and valuable insights about coaching.
Lastly, intentional networking and mentoring have been invaluable tools. Making the effort to connect with people has opened many doors and possibilities. Joining a members-only networks that support entrepreneurs and offer coworking and programming for those needing a community has been particularly impactful.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
As a women’s empowerment founder, I’m thrilled to collaborate with women entrepreneurs from various industries who want to share their journey on my podcast, “Restyling Your Path,” or partner with my empowering apparel brand, The Prophetess Shop. I also offer personal branding services, drawing from my background in image consulting. Reinventing yourself can be daunting, but I can assist with image and styling, as well as strategic marketing. One-on-one sessions are available on my website and social media.
