Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Emily Garee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Emily, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

From a young age, I struggled with my skin, consistently battling breakouts and a lack of self-confidence. This experience sparked a profound curiosity and drive within me to understand skincare on a deeper level—to uncover not just what products to use, but how they work and their impact on the skin.

Through relentless research and experimentation, I began to develop a comprehensive understanding of skincare ingredients and practices. This journey wasn’t just about healing my skin, it was about reclaiming my confidence and self-worth. Simultaneously, I cultivated small, meaningful self-care rituals that contributed to my overall well-being and enhanced my self worth. Between the two, I was spending a lot of my time researching, experimenting, and implementing. I was able to truly transform not only how I see myself but what I am capable of as well. In my research, I learned about the esthetics industry and everything just felt aligned and exciting. I took the leap and have never looked back.

My advice to anyone looking for their purpose would be to embrace the struggle. I have found that these lessons as well as the little things in life that you enjoy are important to pay attention to. You never know how the smallest things that you find yourself gravitating towards could be a whole career.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a 24 year old entrepreneur with a strong passion for helping others see and truly feel their own beauty. Being in the esthetics business, I offer services such as facials, waxing, tinting, lamination, lash lift, and even virtual skincare consultations to help clients find their perfect skincare routine. My main focus going into the industry has been skincare services, as it aligns most with my desire to help people clear their skin. However, I love all of the services that I offer and how they increase the confidence of my clients!

A big part of my satisfaction comes from the results that I help my clients achieve. Whether it is a relaxing facial or an aesthetic service to enhance their brows or lashes, I know I am making a difference. My favorite moments come when my clients can’t stop looking at their glowing skin in the mirror or see their lashes lifted for the first time. I get texts days after the services about how the dermaplane or facial has changed their skin for the better, therefore boosting their confidence. All of this affirms I am in the right industry doing what I truly love and am meant to do.

Personally, I have been through phases in my life where I neglected to take proper care of myself. Whether stemming from a lack of awareness or a belief that I didn’t deserve it, cultivating small self care habits have truly changed the game for me. I find incredible satisfaction in incorporating little ways to elevate my self care or to set the mood for my night time routine. Whether it’s a facial massage, a red light to wind down for bed, or icing my face in the morning, I believe that these are easy techniques that everyone can incorporate to help themselves feel like the best versions of themselves.

I’ve noticed a pattern of women expressing that they don’t know how to practice self care. I’ve found that self care means very different things to everyone, and it stems beyond the face masks and bubble baths. I am excited to introduce my newest service, self care consultations. This entails my curation of self care recommendations unique to your needs, schedule, and budget. Being able to help clients to build sustainable, affordable, and exciting self care practices at home lights me up inside. The intention is to provide the ideas and tools to incorporate greater habits, and to send clients off to romanticize their lives and to love themselves intentionally each day.

I am driven by the desire to share my knowledge and experiences with others who may be facing similar challenges, with the goal being to help them discover the beauty and confidence that lies within. Each client I work with is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, guiding them towards a greater sense of self-acceptance and self-love. My business is not just about skincare, but rather fostering a sense of empowerment and well-being that transcends physical appearance. I am deeply grateful for the journey that has brought me to this point, and I am committed to continuing to uplift and inspire others through the transformative power of skincare and self-care.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

From a young age, my mother instilled in me the golden rule to always treat others how you want to be treated. This became an integral part of how I lived my day to day life, and is something I hold close to my heart to this day. In my opinion, the ability to hold empathy for others is one of the most valuable traits one can possess. It is important as a business owner to recognize that it’s not just about money, but rather serving others with a purpose. I believe that if you fill the client’s needs and provide them with value, then success in business will follow.

Curiosity is another trait that I hold highly in my business practice, as it is pertinent to always have a thirst for knowledge. Being able to continuously learn, grow, and better oneself is what has allowed me to have a comprehensive knowledge for skincare, self care, and business. I strive to always be learning, not only for my personal development, but most importantly my clientele.

The most important attribute of my business has always been passion. Through my own struggles with skincare and a lack of self care, I have become extremely dedicated to growing for the benefit of my clients. Self care as a whole has brought great value and positive change to my life. I feel passionate about sharing this with others to help them feel their best. Being engrossed in the purpose of my business, I never regret putting in time, energy, or resources. I truly enjoy every day of my job and am excited to grow in my career. Being passionate about what I do keeps me putting my best foot forward day in and day out.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

Over the past few years, I have fallen in love with personal development and self help books. Conveniently, the most influential book to my development came while I was creating my brand. “Start with Why” by Simon Sinek teaches to lead with purpose and build from there. As it quotes, “People don’t buy WHAT you do they buy WHY you do it,” (Sinek).

The book talks about how the most fulfilling and successful companies align their decisions and actions with the purpose they have set. It states, “a WHY provides the clear filter for decision-making,” (Sinek). Leading with why will make every other decision you make easy, as it is either fits with your values or it doesn’t, ensuring that the rest of your business is in alignment.

While I already had a strong purpose in starting my business, this book really urged me to articulate my values and structure my business in a way that emphasizes value and satisfaction for my clients. Furthermore, it gave me the confidence and reassurance that I am doing the right thing for the right reasons. Another important note from the book reads, “There are only two ways to influence human behavior: you can manipulate it or you can inspire it,” (Sinek). The best way to build a loyal following is to inspire your audience with your values and purpose. Following these guidelines, I am inspired to build a community of women that truly value and enjoy the same things that I do. As a business owner and self care enthusiast, this is all I could ever ask for.
