Meet C.A. Hartway

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful C.A. Hartway. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with C.A. below.

Hi C.A., appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My mom was relentless. No weather, no sickness, no obstacle, nor setback seemed to stop her, especially when it came to being a mother. I get my work erhic from her. She always found a way to push through hardtimes and maintain love. She gave me a sense of “all things are possible…”

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a sculptor with a focus on ethnic art, which I have dubbed as “Tribal Fusion.” What makes my work exciting is that I am able to borrow various cultural aspects of beauty, fashion, and style to create majestic and fantasy pieces that push the boundaries of the imagination to elevate, engage, and entertain my audience.

I am the brand, and my brand endeavors to collaborate with other artists and to establish opportunities that help artists succeed in whatever art form one may be involved (i.e. visual, performance art). I believe the world is better when artists are able to flourish in their true purpose.

In the upcoming months, I will be introducing a series of works titled, “Watoto,” which will portray children from a regal perspective. In addition, I am developing the website, TrybeCulture.com, that will feature up-and-coming artists, as a catalyst to the my future brick-and-mortar gallery.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I believe in self-value, a sense of purpose, and the courage to decide to actively persist in your goals with the confidence that success is the only option. But, to truly be successful, I suggest that a person continues to seek wisdom and knowledge, and use every opportunity to learn and progress, with humility and a tenacity to find a solution in every opportunity.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?

I believe it is important to fully embrace our strengths, however, that alone is not enough. We must also seek more knowledge and understanding on how we may best apply our abilities, as well as ensure we are aligning our skills with our talents and passions in order to achieve our maximum potential. Having one without the other opens the doors of ineffective action and weakened intentions, which will often lead to fatigue that can halt progress.
