Meet Imani Williams

We recently connected with Imani Williams and have shared our conversation below.

Imani, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I’m still finding my purpose. As a now four year old, I’ll continue to evolve. I believe God has a purpose for everyone and through trial and error, finding what I love, making mistakes and overcoming obstacles, my purpose will find me. It’ll be what God created me specifically to do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Hi everybody, my name is Imani Aileen Williams. I’m 4 years old. I am an ordinary girl who loves to play with toys, learn new things, ride my bike, travel and honestly go to church. I’m a co-author of five children’s books, owner of Imani’s Funtastic Lemonade and a social media influencer.

At age 1, I began appearing on my own YouTube channel called Living with Imani. I later joined other social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook and Instagram. Most people may recognize me from my ballon pop video or spilling coffee on my mom’s white chair.

My show simply shows my life of developing as a kid through learning and every day life experiences.

At around age 2, I began to co-author books with my mom and appeared in a few episodes of Ebony TV Show. I currently have five children’s books, Imani’s ABCs, Counting with Imani, Dream Big (Black History book), Happy Valentine’s Day and Christmas with Imani. All five of my books are readily available on Amazon.com.

A few months before my 4th birthday, I asked my parents if I could start a lemonade business and they helped me bring it to life. I go to a church where our Apostle, teaches us not only the word of God, but also business and entrepreneurship. It was through her pushing us to continue to develop my ideas that I’m continuing to evolve and my business is expanding.

What I feel is so special about what I’m doing is, I’m only 4 years old and not only am I accomplishing so much, but I’m able to meet new people, share my journey and teach others new things even as I learn.

I’ll be having my first book signing in September and launching two more books before the end of the year. There will be more details about these things on my social media @livingwithimani on all platforms in the coming months.

Also, I’m working on new lemonade options that are completely natural with no artificial sweeteners. This is important to me because, having a dad that’s diabetic and learning that silent diabetes is a huge factor for early death in our community, I want everyone to be able to join in on the fun of drinking refreshing lemonade.

In the near future I’d love to model or do some acting on tv. When I get older, I’d like to do gymnastics and become a teacher.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three qualities or skills that I have are: being a people person aka being friendly, a great imagination and not being afraid to try or ask for help.

I don’t know a stranger, lol, I’m friendly to just about everyone. I like to meet new people and talk. This helps build connections and creates new customers or life long friends. They say the best advertisement is by word of mouth. Would you rather support someone who shows themselves friendly or to a very rude or nasty business? How we act towards people is very important.

Having a great imagination opens a world of possibilities. To be creative you must first imagine things. Kids have one of the best imaginations, therefore they’re willing to try new things. I love pretend play so it helps me have new ideas.

Although I have ideas, I must ask for help. I’m still only 4 years old so I have to ask a grown up to help me with a lot of things. However, the more they show me, the more my skills develop and the more I can learn to do things on my own. Nobody knows everything so it’s okay to ask for help.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

God and all the important adults in my life, my parents, my Apostle (Pastor) and grandma. They each play a role in helping me grow and develop, never the least, my church family Joy City Church.

I’m learning so much like: God is the one who helps spark my imagination, creativity and ideas. My parents help fund and bring my ideas to life and teach me along the way how to execute those ideas. My Apostle has and is helping me to continue to expand my ideas in areas I didn’t think of. My grandma helps support me and my ideas, especially taste testing. My church family continues to be my first and biggest supporters. They buy my products, advertise and cheer me on as I grow.
