Meet mike stanko

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mike Stanko. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Mike, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

I believe it was embedded in me from birth. Thankfully , I come from a very happy. loving and supportive family. Very close. I married Karen, an artist herself, who is very positive, loving. creative and fun !!
Throughout life I have always tried to surround myself with the same qualities. I certainly believe this makes life a lot more enjoyable. The less BS, the better !!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’ve been painting and exposing my art to the outside world for many years. Besides showing in a variety of galleries in the New York area, especially on Long Island, where I live with my wife Karen, I’ve donated many paintings to various charities that I believe in. Ronald McDonald House, Breast cancer, ALS and environmental fundraisers , many school fundraisers and many more. If my artwork can make people happy, and also raise money for causes I believe in, I’m there to help. .

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Keep at it . Personal success for most people does not come over night. You can never stop learning and growing. Keep doing what you love and the benefits will come later. I paint everyday, no exaggeration , because every time I’m in my studio, I’m home. It’s my work place, my happy place. I’m where I love .
I’ve always kept my mind open to new ideas, new techniques , watching fellow artists, speaking to them , learning about new materials or new places to show your work. This all helps.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

My parents have always supported me from sending me as a child to a Creative Day School, to always letting me be free with my time to explore my interest in art ( and not being the parents that say ,”You should be playing baseball ” or something like that.) They reinforced my urge to create something INSIDE the house rather than outside, though I have learned the pleasure of planting flowers and gardening ( which also makes its way onto my canvas)
