Meet Jessi Moyler

We recently connected with Jessi Moyler and have shared our conversation below.

Jessi, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I feel like I had no choice. I enjoy being the odd ball. My style and how I present myself is different and often that draws attention towards me. So it’s just something I have to have. I love coloring my hair and I love my piercings and my tattoos so I have to keep the confidence up to because that’s what makes my style truly

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Jessi, I’m 24 years old and I am a content creator and video editor. The main focus of my content is my daily life and just trying to make people laugh. My content is all about just enjoying life and always expressing yourself. Its personal it me being diagnosed with Major Depression Disorder (MDD) at the age of 9. I spent a lot my youth feeling so worthless and depressed. I still struggle with that today but I make my content because I want to showcase that anyone can still enjoy life even those of us that struggle deeply with mental health. Life is what you make it and there is a light at the end of that tunnel. That’s why what I do is important to me because I want to continue to show the community that life can be worth living even when you feel like it isn’t

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I think growing up in the budding “influencer” era really helped me see the positives of the internet. I remember when YouTube was first getting big and seeing the communities form from the internet really deeply impacted me. People like Markiplier and Tyler Oakley gave me hope that I could one day make my own community and inspire others. I think another good skill to have is determination. I despise being told I can’t do something, it’s literally fuel for me. I try and try until I get it. The only person that could ever tell me I can’t do anything is myself. I would also say that awareness of yourself really piggybacks off determination. You have to be aware of your limitations as well as the limitations, real or imaginary, that other people have set on themselves to make them think the way they do. I believe that a lot of people project their limits onto others, so often you will hear that you can’t achieve something when in reality that person feels as though they can’t. It’s also about being aware of yourself. What are you truly capable of? Can you dig deep into yourself when a challenge presents itself? These are the questions I often ask myself to make sure I can do something and I highly suggest that if you are going to be determined to be successful you must also always be aware.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

The House of Scorpion and its sequel The Lord of Opium by Nancy Farmer. I first read these books in 8th grade for English class and they were so good I had to reread them. This book is about a boy, named Matt, who eventually finds out he’s the clone of the most powerful drug lord in the world. As crazy as that sounds the boy’s journey throughout these books is something I resonate with deeply. In his world being a clone is just about the lowest of low. Matt was treated so poorly and so differently from everyone else around. That was until he came to power and even then everyone was not thrilled about but they still tried to respect him. The biggest lesson these books taught me was regardless of how other people feel about you, you have to feel better about yourself. Matt went through so much and still cared so much at a young age and still through sheer will kept his head held high and never let the unfair treatment phase him. He found people that actually cared about him despite what others would say and he built his own legacy and empire despite what everyone thought of him. Truly inspiring and his story pushing me everyday to pushing because the universe will bring me the people that I need around me and silence the naysayers
