We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Angie Maserati a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Angie, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I believe we are all meant to be and come into this life with a purpose. We come with a curiosity for what is possible, the challenge is keeping it alive in order to bring into our adulthood. The expansion of humanity is held in each of us seeking and honoring our purpose. I can remember sensing this as a child and I have developed a greater understanding of this and the language to describe it as this journey has unfolded many manifestations. I enjoy the excitement and possibility that each new day holds . I have been aware of myself as being connected to the observer of the thoughts behind the eyes. I could sense most dominantly love and trust in this energy and find it supportive and peaceful. This sense of natural belonging kept me from feeling like I needed to try and fit in. Knowing I am held in this powerful presence has gifted me confidence as a faith and a feeling of purpose which breeds self-esteem. Life is a mirror and when love and support are what you give, it is love and support that you will receive.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As a creator I find the most joy in the creative process, the first part of the process being inspired. Inspiration can be defined as in-spirit and to me that means; something has lit my soul on fire! An experience has me feeling alive and needing to dive deep into the feels and let the lyrics flow through my mind, the finger tips and onto the paper. Once I begin the process the thoughts just keep downloading and I capture them on my phone or the paper on my night stand. These precious gems love to come through in the night when my mind is in free flow.
The creative process lights me up so much because creating is literally bringing something into tangible existence. I love sharing my work because they are all created with pure spirit and authenticity. My only intention is to love them enough to want to share them. Like so many genres or collective works, my songs align with the current temperature of humanity. The things we are going through in the times that we are living. They come to be not as copying or going along with, but as a simultaneous creative vein that serves the movement of love and peace.
I am currently working on a song called “I Want All of It”. I lost my sister in 2023 to cancer. The disease is brutal and the treatments equally as brutal on the quality of life. My sister felt she knew when the disease began. She told me that had been longing for love and connection in her relationship but nothing ever changed. She denied herself because we had been raised with the example of transactional love. She felt stuck in guilt and shame. My sister was the most beautiful person I have ever experienced, she deserved all the love in the world! My song is about honoring your birth right to wake up happy, hopeful, seen, heard, and supported in these basic human rights. “Love I want all of it” is the hook of the song! Life will present so many gifts, we have to believe we are worthy to receive them, and that as we are we are enough.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Can passion be defined as a quality? The passion is the fuel that keeps the fire and energy flowing into the dream, for me that is music. Music is without a doubt my purpose. I have a lyric in my song titled “Why” that is; “My spirit told me keep believing wouldn’t let me let go”. Meaning Stay true to your calling. If you want to have joy in your heart, listen to it! I think the cause of a lot people’s pain is putting everything else as a priority over their own dreams. I am a mother of 3 boys, two grown and one in high school. It is important that I example my talents as gifts and to honor them makes life beautiful. My music has brought so many gifts into the lives of my family; friends, travel, fun shows and more. A happy fulfilled person makes the whole world a happier place.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I have been curious, observant and seeking growth with every step of this journey towards vocal mastery. There will always be something I am curious about and want to learn. The possibilities are endless and that lights me up! I am never intimidated by great talents, I get excited about what I can learn! Every single opportunity I have said yes too has grown me in some way. I use all my senses to engage in learning. There are so many aspects of performance, the technical, the energy, and so importantly the feeling that each band member brings to the show! People are drawn to the arts for feeling. A great performer to me is deep in the feels of the story and openly shares from the heart and soul. As a tip; find someone who has more skill and talent and spend time with them! The greatest way to success is studying someone who has already made the journey to where you want to go.
