Meet Neska Rose

We recently connected with Neska Rose and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Neska with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

For my future and my desire for a good life, what you seed is what you get. And I feel yucky when I’m unprepared or half-assed. If I put my passion and energy into anything, I make every moment more enjoyable for myself.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Hey, I’m Neska Rose. I write and create music and stories in Los Angeles. My twin sister, Libi Rose, joins me as a harmonist and pianist. I’m also an actor. I had my first acting experience at Nickelodeon in ‘Drama Club’ and got to write comedy songs with Libi on ‘Nick Shorts’. I did a role on ‘Extrapolations’ at Apple, episode 3 if you’re interested in watching.

My EP ‘H’ is coming out on August 16th. With the single “Epithets,” produced by David Greenbaum, known Beck and Beabadobee. The rest of the tracks were co-produced by Libi, Noam Fainer, and me. Currently, I’m working with producer Tim Anderson on a song that I’m really excited about!

On my YouTube channel, Libi and I perform our original songs in a “tiny desk concert” style. We create this energetic sound with stripped-down instruments and our voices together…

My favorite part about music is performing. I regularly perform with Libi at Hotel Cafe, where we create an.. ‘immersive’ experience at every show. Our next show at Hotel Cafe is on Tuesday, July 30th. We also have another one at Hotel Ziggy on Oct 16th. If you want to keep up with added dates, just check out my Instagram @iamneska for all the fun!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I’ve learned that I always have a choice in how I approach a situation.
I’ve found that I could always gain power from others.
Opening up and lowering my barriers is the best way to gain knowledge about myself and others.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

Viktor Frankl, man’s search for meaning, “Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose.” I learned that instead of searching for happiness, one should seek meaning and find wisdom in suffering, which is the greatest tool of all.
