Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gina-Marie Bethel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Gina-Marie, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Firstly I was honest with myself and recognized certain triggers. For me, I’m a perfectionist and a bit of an introvert so with that I had to overcome self doubt, over working and comparing myself to others in the industry and overall fear of exposure. In being honest with myself; I realized that it was important to reshape my though process and challenge negative thoughts of inadequacy and to celebrate my achievements no matter how small I viewed them.

Talking to others also played a major role in winning the battle with imposter syndrome. Chatting with like minded industry professionals and mentors who knew exactly what I was faced with and assisted in me clearing my own path to success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

In handling anything web related I would want persons to know Viewtechlive focuses on the user aspect. Using the most innovative designs that prioritize user experience and ensuring intuitive navigation and a seamless interface when streaming or operating a website designed by us.

Aside from the web experience, it is important to the Viewtechlive Team to Providing ongoing support and updates to keep your service evolving and current.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

A few qualities that has always lend aid to my journey has definitely been my creative/artsy side. I have a very strong background in typography, layout and color theory so I enjoy putting the knowledge into practice to present something with tons of visual appeal and movement.

With my background however, it is important to always practice the principles of the craft as well as take notes. Look at various other works and don’t be hesitant to get feedback from people. Learn how to grab the feedback and turn it into something beautiful and sustainable.

Also, I would always encourage someone to stay on top of things as it relates to industry trends. So attend the seminar and sign up for the online communities to keep the conversation going.

Lastly; I would say have patience with yourself as you grow into your craft, its an ever learning experience.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

My biggest areas of growth over the past year is more User Research & Testing that allows me to get as much information as possible for end users.

Wire-framing and Prototyping for developing more detailed and interactive wire-frames and prototypes to visualize user flows and interactions before full-scale development.

Learning about WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and incorporating these standards into every project whether it be streaming or web design.
