Meet Dana Mason

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dana Mason a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Dana , we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

My generosity comes from my mother and grandmother (her mother). I grew up watching my mother and grandmother selflessly give their time, attention and money to help others. My mother is a true philanthropist in every way! She taught me to always help those in need. It doesn’t always mean a money/financial exchange. But philanthropy shows up simply by being shoulder to lean on, an empathic ear to lend or simply paying for the coffee order for the person next to you in line.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am an accomplished veteran in both the music entertainment industry and the realm of holistic healing. With a
career spanning three decades, my journey has been marked by astute leadership, adept management, innovative
solutions, creative finesse, and a profound dedication to personal growth and transformation.

In the music entertainment sphere, my expertise has shined brightly in a series of leadership and marketing roles. From my early days in the 90’s at Priority Records in Los Angeles, where I collaborated with iconic hip hop and rap pioneers such as Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Tupac, and Master P, to my tenure at EMI Distribution working on legendary projects with artists like
Tina Turner, The Smashing Pumpkins, Lenny Kravitz, and David Bowie.

Continuing my trailblazing path, I co-launched the urban division of JCOR Entertainment through Interscope Records, discovering exceptional talent and driving strategic marketing and promotion efforts. Artists like Slum Village, TechN9ne, and 8Ball & MJG found their place in the spotlight under my guidance. My journey eventually led me to Hidden Beach Recordings, where I excelled in creating and executing marketing and promotions plans,
contributing to the success of Grammy Award winners such as Jill Scott, Bebe Winans, Mike Phillips, and many more.

As General Manager for Guerilla Union and Pangea Agency, I skillfully navigated business development and operations, managing multi-million-dollar corporate clients and co-producing national and global multi-day music festivals. With a trail of gold and platinum records and over 300,000 concert tickets sold, my career lead me to the curiosity of using music as healing for the mind and body.

Throughout my career, my passion for personal growth and holistic well-being steadily grew. Drawing on my spiritual studies and empathy-driven nature, I embarked a new path as a healer, advisor, and holistic practitioner. Earning numerous certifications in various healing techniques, I crafted a unique approach that blends counseling, sound healing, and intuitive guidance to facilitate transformative journeys for my clients. I launched my holistic practice earlier this year. I provide 1:1 wellness coaching sessions, intuitive readings, energy work, sound healing and group/corporate wellness sessions.

Recognizing the intricate connection between the subconscious mind and the body, my holistic healing sessions emphasize the importance of addressing emotional and physical traumas. Through compassionate guidance, I assist individuals to shift their mindset and release suffering, fostering lasting change and self-discovery.

My journey from the music entertainment industry to helping others has been influenced by the profound power of music and its role in my personal transformation, which led to the unwavering commitment to empowering others on their path to wellness and healing.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

My passion for music helped me to develop my tenacity to overcome any adversity in my path. The music business is a very tough industry to get into, especially if industry relationships are not immediately available. As I was thriving in one career, my heart always wanted to help people and I studied for over 20 years with notable holistic practitioners, spiritual advisors and shamans. All of the tools I learned helped me to create a sustainable and more balanced life in my music career. My Vedic meditation practice was truly a saving grace. As a 10 year meditation practitioner, I always encourage others that ask me about my positive disposition, to note that it is my meditation practice that makes my daily life a bit more effortless.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

I have 2 books:

1. Conversations with God ( Book I,II, and III) – this series by Neale Donald Walsh kicked started my spiritual curiosity which lead me to explore my relationship with God/Universe differently than my traditional religious upbringing. It was spiritual liberation.

2. The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz – This simple Toltec philosophy was also mentally and spiritually liberating for me to get out of my own way, allow others to be who they are and to always be present and hold myself accountable for my actions, thoughts and words,
