Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Kimtastic with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I owe my strong work ethic to my dad, who grew up on a farm where hard work was a daily necessity. From a young age, he was responsible for a multitude of tasks, from tending to crops and animals to maintaining equipment and managing the farm’s day-to-day operations. This instilled in him a sense of discipline, perseverance, and dedication that he passed down to me. Watching him tackle every challenge with determination and a positive attitude taught me the value of hard work and the satisfaction that comes from a job well done. His unwavering commitment to his responsibilities, despite the often grueling demands of farm life, has been a constant source of inspiration for me in both my personal and professional endeavors.

Kimtastic or Kim Simpson is a hairstylist known for her exceptional talent and vibrant personality. With over a 3 decades of experience in the beauty industry, I have built a reputation for creating stunning hair transformations that leave my clients feeling confident and rejuvenated. My journey began with a passion for creativity and a love for making people feel their best. I honed my skills while attending Cosmetology in high school and quickly rose to prominence with my unique flair and meticulous attention to detail. Whether it’s a classic cut, a bold color change, or a banging set of hair extensions, Kimtastic approaches each style with precision and artistry.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with my guests on a personal level. I take the time to understand their individual preferences and lifestyles, ensuring that each hairstyle not only looks fabulous but also fits seamlessly into their daily routines. I think my warm and welcoming demeanor creates a comfortable environment where clients feel valued and heard. Beyond my technical skills, I genuinely care for my guests well-being and it shines through, making every visit a memorable and uplifting experience. My dedication to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest trends ensures that I always bring fresh, innovative ideas to the table, solidifying my status as a beloved and sought-after hairstylist.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey were perseverance, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Perseverance was crucial because it helped me push through challenges and setbacks. No journey is without its obstacles, and having the determination to keep going, even when things get tough, made all the difference. For those early in their journey, it’s essential to develop resilience. Embrace failures as learning opportunities and keep your eyes on your long-term goals.
Adaptability was another key factor. The ability to pivot and adjust to new circumstances or information kept me relevant and open to opportunities I might not have initially considered. To cultivate this skill, stay flexible and open-minded. Be willing to step out of my comfort zone and try new approaches when old ones aren’t working.
Finally, a commitment to lifelong learning ensured that I continued to grow and improve. In a constantly changing world, staying curious and seeking out new knowledge and skills kept me ahead of the curve. For those starting out, prioritize learning. Whether through formal education, online courses, or self-study, make continuous learning a part of your routine. Stay curious, seek mentors, and never stop improving your craft.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents provided was unwavering support and encouragement. This includes fostering a safe and nurturing environment where I feel valued and understood, which built a strong foundation of self-confidence and resilience. By actively listening to my dreams and aspirations, offering guidance without imposing their own expectations, and celebrating my achievements—no matter how small—they empowered me to pursue my passions with confidence. Additionally, instilling values such as perseverance, empathy, and integrity equipped me with the essential qualities needed to navigate life’s challenges and build meaningful relationships. Ultimately, knowing that my parents believed in me are were there for me, no matter what, created a powerful sense of security and motivation to strive for my best.
