Meet Marybeth Malbrough

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marybeth Malbrough. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marybeth below.

Hi Marybeth, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

Throughout my childhood my addict father was in and out the house, leaving my siblings and I full of anxiety and a skewed perception of reality. Hearing the word “divorce” come from my mom was heart shattering, especially fantasizing of having a family of my own one day and taking them to grandma and grandpas house. I had a vivid image in my head of both of my parents sitting in rocking chairs as my future children would run up to them on the porch. I didn’t take the divorce lightly, to say the least.

From a pre-teen until I turned 17, I acted out. I lost my faith, coped in the wrong ways with the wrong people, and felt my depression and anxiety worsen by the day. I was in a dark, dark place with little to no hope for my future.

The summer before my senior year of high school I met a girl named Kimberly. She was a social butterfly and a ray of sunshine that changed my perspective of life. The more I hung around her, the more my family noticed a shift in my behaviors, and I noticed a shift in my happiness. The girl who never thought she’d make it to her teenage years was starting to actually have hope.

So where did my optimism come from? It came from feeling so low, so broken, and hopeless to having my perspective changed to see and authentically having gratitude for every small thing in life. My optimism came from watching my life do a 180.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Hey there! I’m Marybeth, a twenty-something, soon-to-be mom of two under two with a mission to help women nourish themselves and their families. As an adolescent I had a terrible relationship with food and my body image. It led me to study nutrition education in college, then earn a certificate in Nutritional Therapy, and start my own venture helping women understand their bodies. Nutritional therapy uses a holistic and bio-individual approach to assessing how your body is functioning. It does not take the place of a doctor, but can help show areas of dysfunction and how to better support your body as a whole through lifestyle practices and nutrition. My specialty is optimizing digestion and gut health, as well as supporting energy naturally through balanced blood sugar regulation. I take pride in telling others that it is not a quick fix and there is no one-size-fits-all. Together we work to get to the root cause of your symptoms.
I offer individualized packages where we work together 1-1, as well as a 5 week group program called the Restart program where we go over 3 big foundations of nutritional therapy.
I am also a freelance content writer where I help women-owned businesses with blogs, email newsletters, and small virtual assistant tasks. My mission is to help the entrepreneur be well by having more free time to tend to the bigger tasks within the business or even more time for self-care.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I believe having resilience, optimism, and being open-minded have impacted my journey. My advice would be to give yourself grace and tune into your body as you are basically reprogramming your mind to change your life. It is not going to be an overnight process and our brain is comfortable using the old pathways that are set in stone rather than creating new neural paths. One positive thing each day can go a long way!

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

An ideal nutritional therapy client for me is a 20-39 year old female who suffers from any of the following: bloat, constipation, fatigue, mood swings, painful periods, struggling to lose weight or get pregnant, wants education on how the body should be functioning or doesn’t know what to eat, and any digestive concerns.
An ideal client to write for is a woman in the wellness world looking to grow their business, nurture their audience, and delegate tasks.
