Meet Ella Giordano

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ella Giordano a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ella, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is real and it sucks when you get stuck in the mindset of feeling like a fraud.
At the beginning of my career it was my biggest challenge to overcome. I started my business in 2021 and to this day I still catch myself comparing to other business owners, thinking my work isn’t good enough compared to theirs. With being in an over saturated industry it’s impossible to not experience self doubt once in a while.

After having conversations with multiple business owners, I came to a realization that everyone feels the same way. Nobody is perfect. I have had to grow into this role and I am still learning to deliver the best possible experience for my clients. It’s important to remind yourself that everyone is special and unique in their own way and nobody is like you, confidence is key being an entrepreneur!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a licensed esthetician in Washington State. I started my business fresh out of beauty school in 2021. I specialize in skincare, facial treatments, brow services and lash lifts! I have such a passion for what I do, it excites me everyday to talk with my clients and make them feel confident after every appointment. Not only do I get to help people feel beautiful on the outside but I’ve built such amazing relationships with all of my clients. It feels like I get to just hangout with my friends all day!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Personally I think to be a successful entrepreneur there are three qualities you must obtain, a passion for what you do, confidence in your work, and communication with your community.
My best piece of advice I can give is to be CONFIDENT!!! Fake it till you make it if you have to. Confidence will be the key throughout it all. My last piece of advice would be to make connections with people in your community. It is so important to have community over competition! Being surrounded by people who only want the best for you and genuinely want you to succeed are the people you want to build connections with.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

Owning a business, taking clients, and managing a personal life can be very overwhelming sometimes. I realized over the years the main reason why I’ve felt overwhelmed was poor time management. Having a time management system that allows you to have a healthy work/life balance is so important for our mental health.

For my business, I use Instagram a lot to gain clientele. Keeping up with posts, reels and being active on my accounts can be very overwhelming. I’ve learned to do batch content creating, which has helped me out a lot with managing my time more wisely. I’ll take a hour each day to batch content, make my captions and write down content ideas I want for the week then save it to my drafts to have content to utilize for the week!
