Meet Mister Trell

We recently connected with Mister Trell and have shared our conversation below.

Mister , thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

As crazy as it may sound, delusion is what keeps the optimistic energy going. No matter what tries to defy the goal, seeing the positive in the situation makes it easier too process and learn from. I always say there’s two sides of the coin, meaning everything is good AND bad. That’s why I don’t question the negative because it’s supposed to happen as well as it to question the bad but not the good is insane.
Destruction is the opposite of creation. Even when things go “wrong” when creating, it’s nothing but a pivot into the right direction as well as potentially showing you something that you initially think was possible. Overall, being optimistic really turns up the gears inside and makes it easier to manifest. I don’t go into anything expecting a smooth ride, nothing worth having will be easy to obtain. So anticipating a hiccup will have you already having your glass of water ready so you can learn and fix the problem when it occurs.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My journey of creating a brand began back in 2014. Being an organic individual, I’ve always set out to do my own thing and never worry about what others may think. Right after I graduated high school in 2011, an old classmate told me “you have a unique style, you need to make it your own”. Dwelling on that statement, i then decided to start toying around with old clothes. My first pair of jeans I’ve ever done was bleached. The first time I wore them outside, I will never forget how in the same moment, a praise and an insult came. The guy said they didn’t like it (probably to stunt in front of the girls) and the girl said she really liked them. From that moment forward is when I truly started to dive into the fashion aspect.

Shipped off to basic training in 2012, I did research on clothing sites and how brands promoted and sold their goods. Also communicating with people back home, I was told their was a fashion show around the time I returned home. From then, I ordered an outfit (American flag theme) and had it shipped to my house. When I returned home, I instantly went to all the pieces I’ve bought and started creating. The day of the fashion show, I was not only greeted because of my return home from army, but received amazing praise for my outfit.
From then on out, I started to create more and more until in 2014, the name of my clothing line TFG (The Fashion Gods and Goddesses) came about. Ten years today, I’ve been in many fashion shows, pop up shops, connected with artist and even given some an opportunity to show case their fashion journey.
So much work has been put in and we’ve only just begun. With an idea of a rebrand, this year is all about restructure and better outcomes. Ending the year off being a part of fashion show, hopes to come to broadcast the new clothing line that’s in the works as well as reshape TFG into strictly one of one’s.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

When I reflect on my artist journey, three things that were impactful and that I say are important when it comes to building is:
A plan, discipline and a team.
These things may seem little, but I always say you need a plan, resources and/or funding too be successful. Without a plan, you won’t know what to do with your resources or money when it comes.
Discipline plays apart, because at times you may not feel like doing what’s necessary to achieve your goal at that time, but that in itself is what separates the successful individuals who aim to thrive and the ones who are stagnant and just want to exist.
And last but not least, a team. Growing up, I was always self sufficient and to this day still am. But I had to realize that my goals and dreams are bigger than me, and every building requires individual bricks to become an entire entity. This is why in 2016, I expanded the brand from strictly fashion, to now music and media. With the plan to create music and showcase the clothes in the videos, everything comes full circle.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

I’ve actually been speaking on overwhelming feelings and how to deal with lately. I tell everyone around me that it’s ok to be overwhelmed, but to show that you are overwhelmed indicates defeat. What this means is, your external expressions shouldn’t match your internal feelings.
The best advice I give when feeling overwhelmed is just breathe and trust in your plan. You can’t see your reflection in rippling water, so a calm mind helps to make rational decisions.
