We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Leesha Archie. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Leesha below.
Leesha, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience was forged through fire. Life has thrown me countless curveballs, from car accidents to pancreatic cancer. These trials have reshaped my perspective on business, nonprofit work, and the precious gift of life.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Leesha Archie. I am the President of Leesha Archie Enterprises, LLC. We specialize in consultations for marketing and branding. I am also the Founder of The REAL U, Inc. We help people through the process of becoming REAL – Restored, Elevated, Affirmed, and Liberated – in various areas of life.
I believe I am transitioning more towards running my not for profit full time. On September 23, 2022, I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Even with the devastating news, I knew I had to anchor myself. I have a 11 year old son to take care of…so I had to dig in.
I have yet another opportunity to share my process through restoration, elevation, and affirmation to liberation from this hardship. If you don’t anything else about me, I want you to know that I’m REAL and you can be REAL too.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities I think have been most impactful on my journey are foundation, faith, and follow through. -Foundation: knowing that the skills and knowledge I have acquired over the years did not and could not waver even when life was wavering.
-Faith: knowing that I have a strong faith in God and His promises over my life were greater that what I was/am experiencing.
-Follow Through: persevering through the rough patches and making things work.
The advice I have for anyone embarking on a new journey is to keep going. Life and business will throw you curve balls that you could have never seen coming. Remember your why when your situation looks like what in the world. You can develop a resilience by putting things in practice early on in your process. Keep learning in your area of expertise. Work on increasing your faith. Keep pushing…you absolutely can make it!
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
As previously mentioned, I have stage 4 pancreatic cancer and I am actively treating with chemotherapy. The treatments leave me depleted and unable to function some days.
One thing I have to remember is that there’s a reason for this place. I might not understand why I’m going through this, but I do understand this is part of my process to becoming the REAL me. The “why” that I understand is that my 11 year old will see me navigate this process of restoration, elevation, affirmation, and liberation with grace.
