We recently connected with Ramon Odunsi and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ramon, thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout
One way i overcame burnout is but giving myself the proper break and rest. It is very easy to get burnt out when you are consistently focus on wanting to put out content each and every day. Most days i wouldn’t touch my camera and either go out for a walk and catch some sun or meditate to relax my mind. My mind usually is racing just thinking of different ideas that i need to do or come up with but sometimes it can overload me to the point i just want to quit. Adding those mental breaks and actually taking time to breathe helps a lot!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a professional photographer/videographer. What excites me about being in this lane is just the opportunity to work with different type of individuals and just being able to bring their vision to life. Here at BIGshOts Photography, our goal is to always put our clients first and making sure we are connecting with them in order to make their visions turn into reality. We strive to be the best we can be each day with our dedication, hard work and perseverance. We just recently launched our website where everyone can view our portfolio and also inquire about any future work they need from us.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The most three skills that were impactful on our journey was technical proficiency, basically being able to understand the functionalities of our camera and other equipments used to capture the vision of my clients. Second was creativity vision, just being able to capture unique perspectives and just telling stories through our pictures. Third is interpersonal skillset, just being able communicate with clients and potential clients. Especially on set while doing a photoshoot, just being able to direct our client on where they need to be and also just understanding their needs as well.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
My number challenge that i am facing is just thinking of new ways to put out more content for the people. I never want to be too repetitive on the type of content i put out to market my brand so sometimes i find myself stuck in a way to where it’s the same type of content. So what i do now is just browser and see what others are doing and how i can incorporate that in a different way for me to use and it’s been helping.
