Meet Beverly Williams

We were lucky to catch up with Beverly Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Beverly, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I believe I Foster a positive outlook on life by focusing on gratitude, optimism, and self-belief. I practice reframing challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. it has taken me some time though I have developed a mindset that sees setbacks as temporary and I have grown to believe in my ability to overcome obstacles.

when there was no way to tap into my own source I surrounded myself with a supportive network of family, friends, and mentors who could provide emotional support, encouragement, and guidance. Sharing my struggles and seeking help whenever needed these things lighten the burden and offer different perspectives on challenges it feels like being recharged. Nurturing your well-being can enhance your ability to cope with stress and bounce back from adversity. I was able to tackle my challenges head on

Embracing change and uncertainty as opportunities for growth. Being open to new ideas, perspectives, and ways of doing things. This mindset allowed me to adjust my plans and strategies as circumstances evolve. I learned from my setbacks celebrating all of my wins and achievements and using them as motivation to keep moving forward.

Remember, resilience is a skill that develops through practice and experience. Each challenge you face and overcome contributes to your overall resilience. It’s a lifelong journey of growth and self-discovery.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Being an author is a creative and fulfilling pursuit that offers me a range of exciting and special aspects. Writing allows me to express my thoughts, ideas, and emotions in a unique and artistic way. It provides a medium for my self-expression and creativity, allowing me to weave stories, explore themes, and share my culture, vision and perspectives with readers.

I get to connect with readers on a deep level. Through my words, I can provoke emotions, challenge beliefs, and inspire change. Books have the ability to transport readers to different worlds, introduce them to diverse characters, and offer new insights and perspectives.

The written word has the potential to endure beyond an author’s lifetime. Books can become a part of the cultural fabric, influencing future generations and leaving a lasting legacy. As an author, I envision my work inspiring and resonating with readers long after I’m gone.

Writing allows for me to explore a wide range of topics and delve into areas of personal interest. Whether it’s through fiction, non-fiction, or even poetry, I have the opportunity to dive deep into research, learning, and intellectual exploration. This process to me is intellectually stimulating and personally rewarding.

Being an author often comes with a sense of autonomy and freedom. Authors have the ability to create their own schedules, choose their topics, and shape their narratives. This independence allows for personal growth, self-discovery, and the pursuit of one’s creative vision. Having the opportunity to connect with readers through book signings, author events, or online platforms fosters a sense of connection and fulfillment for me.

Being an author is a journey of continuous growth and learning. Each project presents new challenges and opportunities for development. Ultimately, what I find most exciting or special can vary based on my experiences and motivations.

I will be have my Book Release Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 6PM located at the Scott Galvin Community Center 1600 NE 126th Street North Miami, FL 33181

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The journey towards any goal, including writing, can be filled with challenges, setbacks, and rejection. Persistence and resilience are crucial qualities that can help authors like me persevere through tough times and keep going. To develop these qualities, it’s important to cultivate a growth mindset, embrace failure as a learning opportunity, and maintain a strong sense of purpose and motivation. Surrounding yourself with a supportive community and seeking feedback from trusted individuals can also provide the encouragement needed to stay resilient.

Writing is a craft that requires ongoing learning and improvement. I strive to develop my writing skills, expand my knowledge base, and stay abreast of current trends and industry standards. This can be achieved through various means such as reading widely, studying different writing techniques, taking writing courses or workshops, and seeking feedback from mentors or peers. Embracing a mindset of continuous learning and staying open to constructive criticism can significantly enhance an author’s growth and development.

For individuals who are early in their writing journey, here are some tips:

Write regularly: Make writing a habit by setting aside dedicated time each day or week to practice your craft. Consistency will help you improve your skills and build momentum.

Read widely: Explore different genres, styles, and voices. Reading will expose you to different writing techniques, expand your vocabulary, and inspire your own creativity.

Seek feedback: Find trusted individuals, such as writing groups, mentors, or beta readers, who can provide constructive feedback on your work. This feedback can help you identify areas for improvement and gain new perspectives.

Embrace the editing process: Understand that writing is a process, and the first draft is rarely perfect. Embrace the editing and revision stage, as this is where you refine your work and make it stronger.

Stay curious and open-minded: Be curious about the world around you and seek inspiration from various sources. Stay open to new ideas, perspectives, and experiences, as they can enrich your writing and bring freshness to your work.

Remember, writing is a personal journey, and each person’s path is unique. Embrace your own voice and style, be patient with yourself, and enjoy the process of continuous learning and growth as a writer.
