We recently connected with Savannah Brown and have shared our conversation below.
Savannah, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience stems from a deep passion and love for what I do, which fuels my drive to overcome challenges and push forward even when things get tough. This unwavering enthusiasm for my work keeps me motivated and focused, turning obstacles into opportunities for growth. I try to look at any setback or shortcoming as a learning opportunity and an opportunity to grow. Additionally, the support and encouragement from friends and family play a crucial role in sustaining my resilience. Their belief in me and their presence during difficult times provide the strength and reassurance needed to keep moving forward. Together, my passion and their support create a powerful foundation for enduring and thriving through life’s ups and downs.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m thrilled to share a bit about what I do and what drives my passion as a photographer. My focus is on capturing the essence of artists and brands in a way that’s both authentic and inspiring. What excites me most about my work is the opportunity to make people feel comfortable and confident in their own skin. I believe that the best images are those where subjects are truly themselves, and I strive to create a space where that authenticity can shine through.
In every shoot, my goal is to highlight the unique personality and artistry of my subjects while showcasing brands and their stories in a genuine light. This approach not only celebrates individuality but also forges a deeper connection with audiences.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, I’d say the three qualities that have been most impactful are:
Empathy: Understanding and connecting with the people I photograph has been crucial. It allows me to create a relaxed environment where subjects feel seen and valued, which in turn brings out their true essence in the images.
Adaptability: The music industry is dynamic and ever-changing, so being adaptable has been key to staying relevant and effective. This means being open to new styles, techniques, and technologies, and being able to pivot quickly when circumstances change.
Persistence: Persistence has been essential in overcoming obstacles and continuing to push forward despite challenges. You will receive a lot of no’s or no answers in your career but you must remain resilient and continue to work through setbacks, learning from failures, and staying focused on your goals. Persistence will not only help you refine your skills but also build the tenacity needed to thrive in a competitive industry.
I am still new an my photography journey as well but for anyone starting out, my best advice is to stay persistent and be willing to experiment. Growth comes from continual learning and evolving, so keep pushing boundaries and refining your craft. One of my favorite pieces of advice that I have read was to dare to be stupid, you have to willing to get outside of your comfort zone and try the unknown to continue to grow and refine your craft.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Feeling overwhelmed comes with every profession especially in the creative space. I think its so important to find what works best for you and your mental health when you find yourself in those moments. Personally for me I have a few strategies I use to avoid feeling overwhelmed or lean on when feeling overwhelmed.
Create a Routine: Establishing a daily routine helps me to create structure to my days and stay motivated, which brings comfort during stressful times. As a creative you are often creating your own schedule so being intentional with my time and having structure is so vital for me.
Take a Break: Sometimes the best thing to do is step away from the situation. I am a firm believer in hot girl mental health walks and find that even a 15 minute walk outside can greatly help when feeling overwhelmed. A short walk, a few minutes of deep breathing, or even a quick change of scenery can help clear my mind and reduce my stress levels.
Prioritize and Organize: Make a list of tasks and prioritize them. I create lists for both daily and weekly activities or to-do’s to stay organized and on track. I break down large projects into smaller, manageable steps. This can make the workload feel less daunting and help you tackle things one at a time.
My advice to others is find when faced with feeling overwhelmed is to take a moment for yourself. You have to find what activities or actions help you most in times of stress and have them part of your toolkit.
