We recently connected with Danielle McCarthy and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, thank you so much for joining us today. There are so many topics we could discuss, but perhaps one of the most relevant is empathy because it’s at the core of great leadership and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your empathy?

I was a victim of a Body Broker scheme in which my deceased husband’s body was dismembered and sold without my knowledge. I was an extremely empathetic individual prior to this experience, yet while traversing the many years of open trauma and grief, I developed an event deeper, more intuitive empathy.
Military life, raising four sons, caring for my mom and my husband on their final years & months of their life’s journey. Working with non-verbal, medically fragile children, working with Veteran’s in crisis, women in crisis, and children in crisis through various non profit volunteering and work.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a Financial Consultant specializing in teaching people about money. I am an avid reader, and share my knowledge along with teaching about money matters. I co-host an event called Wine, Women, & Wealth® which creates a safe and welcoming space for women to learn about money, as well as come together to create a community of women supporting each other.
Teaching has always been a part of me. I remember lining up my dolls and teddy bears under my blue chalk board and teaching class! My heart and purpose is to care and build strong people. Empowering people to find their competence and confidence to achieve. It goes beyond teaching, it is a heart to heart moment of connection when the spark of knowledge is passed along and ignited. I love watching people’s eyes when the spark of understand flashes!
I love sharing my vast knowledge base to support others in their endeavors. My life experiences have garnered me a wide array of walking alongside individuals in life’s darkest challenges, to find the light and love in those dark moments, and be present so they do not feel alone.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Compassionate leadership- follow the Golden Rule, treat others as you want to be treated. Walk alongside those you lead; learn from them; allow them to be curious, to fail, to learn, to express, and be empowered. Be kind: express the truth in a loving and empowered manner. The leaders I admire most in my journey allowed all of these traits and more.
Insatiable curiosity & learning- READ! READ! READ! Listen to book,s read books, watch documentaries, learn about this massive amazing world live on & in, learn from every person you come in contact. Listen to podcasts, take classes, do masterminds, stop and listen in nature, there is much to learn. Do not ever stop learning!! What are you reading?
Caring- alway, always be kind. Show up for people, even when it is uncomfortable with no expectations, except to love and care for them where they are- no judgement, no fixing their problems, offer your silent presence and a thought of I cannot fix this for you, but I can sit here with you until you are ready to begin again.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
