We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lindsey Tucker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsey, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My acts of generosity stem from the challenges I have faced personally. Having experienced hardships, I empathize with others who need a helping hand. I credit my achievements to the kindness of those who supported me along the way. My understanding of generosity has been further enriched through my involvement with RAVR, my company. RAVR provides a subscription service for individuals who enjoy attending raves and festivals. Within the rave community, there is a culture of compassion and generosity, where attendees readily offer help, such as sharing a fan with someone feeling overheated or welcoming solitary participants into their circle. Ravers often bring Kandi bracelets and small gifts to events, with the intention of sharing them with others. I firmly believe that generosity and unity are interconnected. By demonstrating empathy and generosity towards one another, we can collectively contribute to positive change in the world.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My entrepreneurial journey kicked off early when I introduced a gymnastics program in my hometown during high school. Fast forward to today, where I’ve launched RAVR Party Box, an online store that distributes my products nationwide. The experience of starting my business has taught me valuable lessons in resilience, adaptability, and the importance of a strong support system. What I enjoy most as an entrepreneur is witnessing how my products bring joy to people. I find fulfillment in reading reviews, conducting market research, and tracking trends to deliver top-notch and engaging products to my customers. For example, a major festival called Lost Lands is coming up in September so we have designed a dinosaur themed box to help our customers prepare for the festival and add to the excitement.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Accountability, innovation, and resilience have been key factors in my journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur. While innovation and resilience are clear, accountability is often overlooked. Being accountable means following through on your commitments and showing up to accomplish what you set out to do. Motivation may not always be present, so discipline and adherence to your plan are crucial. Many entrepreneurs face setbacks due to discouragement from delayed results. My advice is to establish deadlines for your goals and remain flexible in your approach to attaining them.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
RAVR is always open to collaborations. As mentioned before, the rave community is known for supporting one another. Putting small business products in our boxes could provide significant exposure for them. Being a business owner can be tough, so I’m eager to assist others where I can.
