Meet Be.Be The Neosoul

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brianna Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brianna below.

Brianna , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from a blend of my curiosity, faith, and belief that there is always an opportunity to learn and for things to look and be different. Curiosity drives me to explore new perspectives and possibilities, while my faith provides a foundation of hope and strength. I firmly believe that every challenge presents a chance to grow and create positive change.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a vocalist and songwriter whose repertoire spans styles from traditional jazz to neo-soul, R&B, and more. I was born in Queens, NY, and raised in St. Louis, MO, where I spent my college years building a foundation as an artist. During that time, I developed a solid performance resume, including opening for national R&B artists like Grammy-nominated songstress Chrisette Michele, working with various businesses and organizations, including a residency with the Kranzberg Arts Foundation, and founding my own band, “Be.Be & the Neosouls.”

One of the most exciting aspects of my work is the opportunity to blend different musical styles and create something unique that resonates with a diverse audience. Performing at iconic venues like New York’s Legendary S.O.Bs becoming a top 25 finalist in BET’s national AmpliFIND competition in 2021 , & most recently becoming a Voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammys) have been incredible experiences that have helped me connect with a community of creatives and build a community Neosouls who appreciate my unique sound.

I’m currently working on my debut album called The Cookbook, which I’m thrilled to share with the world soon. Additionally, I’m excited to be starting a new position as the Artistic Specialist at my alma mater, Central Visual and Performing Arts High School, this fall. It’s a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community that shaped me and to inspire the next generation of artists.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Reflecting on my journey, I would say the three most impactful qualities have been a willingness to learn, flexibility, and a deep passion for what I do.

The world of Creative Arts is ever-changing, and staying relevant requires a commitment to continuous learning. Whether it’s exploring new musical styles, embracing innovative performance techniques, or understanding the latest industry trends, being open to learning has been crucial.

The ability to adapt to new situations and challenges has been vital. In the creative field, things don’t always go as planned, and being flexible allows you to pivot and find new solutions. Embrace change and be open to experimenting with different approaches. This adaptability will help you navigate the unpredictable nature of the arts.

My passion for music and the arts fuels everything I do. It’s what drives me to improve and pushes me through difficult times. To anyone early in their journey, I would say, find what you love and let that passion guide you. When you’re deeply passionate about your work, it becomes a source of motivation and resilience, helping you to always strive for better.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

The people who have been most important in my journey are my professional team and my family. My professional team consists of my manager, my music director who also doubles as my producer, my creative director/choreographer, and my glam/image consultant. Each of them plays a crucial role in supporting and elevating every level of my artistry, ensuring that I can focus on my creative expression while they handle the various aspects of my career.

Additionally, my family has been an incredible source of support and encouragement. They help to elevate me personally, providing the emotional and moral backing I need outside of my public work. Their unwavering belief in me fuels my drive and keeps me grounded. Together, my professional team and my family create a strong support system that enables me to overcome challenges and continue growing as an artist.
